Insurance Company not able to determine Energi model

Issue with Progressive's online system not being able to identify car from VIN is what brought me to this forum.

Sounds like I might want to wait a day or two and try again?

Otherwise I can just call them I suppose.

Interacting with a human in real-time via the phone?  Rather archaic really, given that the Energi is such a car of the future.

What are they looking under?  I'm through Progressive as well and they couldn't find the VIN until they changed the car to "Fusion Hybrid".  They didn't have a separate listing for the Energi.

Edit:  Oh, sorry.  I don't know about the online system.  If you can't find the VIN as a Fusion Hybrid, you may need to call.

Apparently he directed the data processing department to add the Energi to their database of automobiles so it wouldn't reject my VIN when the agent attempts to add it to my account.  The letter that I received basically said the problem has been fixed.

My correct VIN now appears in the insurance ID card that is displayed by the State Farm android app.

They also raised my rate since the rate had been set for the considerably less expensive gasoline Fusion.

  • 1 year later...

Never, never, look a gift horse in the mouth :)  Just today I had to switch insurance companies as Liberty Mutual increased my annual policy by $390 due to me trading a 2013 Ford Platinum SuperCrew 4x4 (retail $53K) for my Fusion Energy Titanium (retail $41K).  I asked why the gouge for the FFE and they couldn't/wouldn't elaborate...as a result I'm now a GEICO customer and saved $350/yr.  Silly that we consumers have to keep playing this insurance company musical chairs game every year or two...

Couple of things that have always bothered me about insurance companies that they have never been able to explain to me:

1) Why don't premium costs decrease (comprehensive) as vehicle value decreases...since comprehensive "actual vehicle cash value" is decreasing each year, so is their amount of risk (payout) and so should the comprehensive portion of our premiums...

2) I have two vehicles, am divorced with no one else in my household...why should I pay collision on both cars all the time - since I can only be driving one at a time?  Perhaps a "basic" charge for collision on each vehicle and then a  primary collision charge based on my driving history zip code, etc.....

LOL, they raised your premium Murphy...what a surprise :)

The above post was a reply to your earlier comment, for some reason when I select the "quote" option in a post it doesn't seem work...(probably operator error I'm sure)
