DipFusion Posted May 24, 2022 at 07:58 AM Report Share Posted May 24, 2022 at 07:58 AM Hi all, I have a 2013 ford fusion energi, last night I put it to charge overnight in my garage for the first time. When I came to check in the morning, the charge level shown on the car display was 100%, but the main dashboard showed that the battery was not fully charged. I restarted the car and after that, the percentage of charge was dropped to 72%. Then I reconnected the cable and the car continued to charge, but when it got to 85% it stopped charging again and didn't resume until the car was at 84%. Maybe the car has some kind of limit on the charging level? Thanks in advance! Alex. P.S. My car doesn't use the go time or value charging, it's always in a charge now state
muzicman61 Posted May 24, 2022 at 01:21 PM Report Share Posted May 24, 2022 at 01:21 PM I noticed this happening as well on my 17 FFE after the 3G modem was decommissioned. If I value charge at night, sometimes it would not fully charge. However, if I do Charge Now, it seems to work perfectly.

In my case car won't charge further and later when I was driving through the city check engine light appeared on the dash Guys in different service centers said that everything is fine with my HVB, but anyway, can't understand why the issue happens, maybe I should try to charge the car using 120v outlet? My current one is 240v but I can decrease it. Edited May 24, 2022 at 01:27 PM by DipFusion
theterminator93 Posted May 24, 2022 at 01:59 PM Report Share Posted May 24, 2022 at 01:59 PM (edited) Given the observations so far and what I've seen posted here in the past, it could be a symptom of a faulty BECM. It's the electronics/logic hardware that's responsible for the charging and discharging of the battery cells. When odd charging issues occur it seems like this is often the culprit. Does a master reset/disconnecting the 12v battery have any effect? Edited May 24, 2022 at 02:00 PM by theterminator93

theterminator93 Posted May 24, 2022 at 02:33 PM Report Share Posted May 24, 2022 at 02:33 PM Aside from trying a different EVSE, it's the only thing I can think of that an owner could try before having to spend money to get the BECM diagnosed. DipFusion Posted June 4, 2022 at 09:25 PM Author Report Share Posted June 4, 2022 at 09:25 PM Thank you guys for your activity. Problem is solved, the reason was that charger amperage was too high, I recommend to charge your FFE with amperage under
theterminator93 Posted June 5, 2022 at 07:17 PM Report Share Posted June 5, 2022 at 07:17 PM Sounds like the EVSE had issues (the charger is in the car, the EVSE just connects the car to utility power). 120V EVSEs can charge at a maximum of 12A, and this is what the factory convenience charger is rated at. At 240V the car can charge at up to 16A.
