% of What???

Hey All,

 

The braking coach tells me that I got 96% of energy back...  96% of what?

 

Of the potential collectible energy since the last time I came to a full stop?

Of the total energy used since the last stop?

There is no way you can recapture 100% of the energy expended to get up to speed, so it's an arbitrary number.

 

I think of it as 100% of 'as good as it gets'.

 

I'm thinking it may also show 100% if you can come to a stop without pushing the brake so hard you actually engage the brake pads instead of just the generator until the very end.

It's the amount of energy you were able to collect from the stop you just made.  When you come to a stop, it shows you how much braking was done by the electric motor and how much done by friction brakes.  96% means you used the electric motor that amount for stopping and 4% from the friction brakes (energy wasted as heat).

 

Unless you're looking at some kind of lifetime coach (I know there's an acceleration/cruising/can'trememberhwatelse coach).
