shaggy314 Posted May 12, 2013 at 08:28 PM Report Share Posted May 12, 2013 at 08:28 PM (edited) Bosch Unveils Sub-$450 Power Max Level 2 Home Charging Stationhttp://insideevs.com/bosch-unveils-sub-450-power-max-level-2-home-charging-station/ Bosch Automotive Service Solutions, just unveiled one of the cheapest Level 2 home charging stations. With a price tag of “less than $450,” Bosch says its Power Max residential charger retails for “roughly half the cost of current EV charging stations.” The Power Max will be offered in two variations: Level 2 240-Volt at 16 amps or Level 2 240-Volt at 30 amps. Of course, the “less than $450″ price tag will be found on the 16-amp version. The price for the 30-amp Power Max unit is $593. The Bosch Power Max is UL-certified in both the United States and Canada and, according to Bosch, “is designed to safely and efficiently charge electric vehicles.”Bosch further states that “Power Max comes in a NEMA 3R enclosure for both indoor and outdoor applications and offers standard safety features including a cord breakaway system and non-live current wire. A hardwired on/off switch completely shuts off power to the unit and ensures no power is consumed.”Tanvir Arfi, President, Bosch Automotive Service Solutions, discusses the importance of low-price chargers as follows:“We believe that for the foreseeable future most EV drivers will primarily charge at home. Because many of the incentives available to offset the costs of purchasing and installing residential Level 2 charging stations are expiring, we believe it’s critical to maintain the momentum towards Level 2 by offering high quality, but lower cost charging solutions to our customers.”The Power Max will ship out in early June, with some customers receiving their unit as soon as late June.
