Go Time Programming Needs Work

I ran a Go Time test today.

The temperature in my garage was 76 degrees.

I monitored the power going to the car.

 

I set up a GO Time for 2:45 PM and 72 degrees.

 

The vehicle conditioning was finished at 3:01 PM.

The Go Time needs a fudge factor if you want it ready on time.

 

First the air conditioner ran.

It is loud in a quiet environment.

When the air conditioner stopped the car was still drawing significant power.

Apparently the air conditioner overshot the temperature because it turned the heater on to finalize the temperature.

 

I hope the person that programmed the HVB charging did a better job than the one that did the climate controls.

I cannot get my go times to work at all. I have tried setting the day, time and temperature several different times, while the charger was plugged into the car and the charging process was complete, but the A/C will not come on. I thought I was maybe not setting the temps low enough so I set them to 65 degrees but no dice. I even set the Go Times from the car display screen and that did not work either.

 

The A/C is set to Auto, under settings in the left side screen. And I tried the other setting for the A/C too.

 

I can remote start the car from the screen on myfordmobile.com but the I think the ICE runs in that mode which seams pretty dangerous to me if the garage door closed, due to the possibility of a carbon monoxide build up. At least I think the ICE is running but when I opened the hood to have a look everything shut down.

 

So I went back to my computer and did another remote start and got to the garage before the car got the news and I heard a whine first, which I am going to guess was the A/C starting, and then the engine came on.

 

Any idea why my Go Times won't work?

Yes, the air conditioner is quite loud. 

 

I turned off pre-conditioning for this morning, but it felt like it had heated the car when I opened the door.  The charger was consuming electricity when I unplugged the car.  It had finished charging the car about 1 hour earlier.  MFM states in one place that pre-condition is on, for the next go time, and when I edit the go times, it says that it is off.  Accessing the go times via MyFord Touch states that pre-conditioning is off.

If you are not using pre-conditioning or value charge, then go times serve no purpose.

 

For value charge, they determine when MFM is going to schedule charging to make sure the car is fully charged by the go time.

 

If the car is plugged in and the cabin temperature is set in MFM, then the cabin temperature should be at the desired level at the go time.  The cabin temperature is set based upon what was selected in MFM and not the previous climate control settings.  You should hear the whine of the air conditioner as you did for the remote start.  If the car is not plugged in, then preconditioning will not work.

 

For a remote start, the car adjusts the cabin temperature based on the previous climate settings.  If the car is not plugged in, you will drain the battery, but conditioning should still work.

 

The ICE is not supposed to turn on when you remote start the car and the car is plugged in and the battery has sufficient charge.  But all bets are off if the battery is depleted.  I had the ICE start on me with the battery depleted and the car was plugged in in an attempt to heat up the passenger compartment.  This happened during run power active mode.  Also, I am not sure what it will do if it senses the battery temperature is too high.

I'm confused about what you are doing so I will state the (to me) obvious.

 

Go times only work when the car is plugged in.

 

Verify the AM/PM designation for the car's clock is set correctly.

 

Verify the Go time schedule is turned ON.

First, everything I am trying to do is with the car plugged in. All I am concerned with right now are Go Times and I can't get the car to come on at the times I enter. 

 

I have checked your list, except for the Go Time schedule being turned ON and I not sure where to look for that. I don't see an on/off on the MFM website, other than the OFF where the temps are when you enter the Go Times. That always reverts back to OFF once I click Add and the website Syncs with the car. But the button for are Go Time I set is blue and shows the temp insignia.

 

The website is communicating with the car because when I check the display in the car the information is there. However, the only thing that happens is the yellow charging light begins to flash, on the charger, even though everything says the car is 100% charged. The A/C never comes on.

 

I thought it might be because I did not have MFM set to Value Charge so I changed that. Nothing. Then I thought I might need to have all of the days scheduled so I filled them all in. Nothing.

 

All I get is a stinking blinking yellow light.

The Go time On / Off is in the car.  See the bottom of the left column on page 401 of the Owner's Manual.  I haven't looked for it in my car since Go times are sort of working for me.  I have to set the Go time 20 minutes before my actual time to leave or it won't be done.  I'll try to remember to look for it tomorrow.

The first time I set GO times, it didn't work.  I left it alone and it worked fine for me the following day (heating).

 

Since it's now summer time, I don't plan on pre-conditioning the car at all, so I deleted all of my go times.  Reason I did this is because after I suspended it all in the car, logged in MyFord to check charge status and to see what it said about my go times, went back outside, and lo and behold on my next trip, my go times were active again.  Easy solution?  Broom them all.

 

Anyway, set your go times for the time you typically leave (not the time you want it to start pre-conditioning) and just leave it for a day.  Day 1 may not work, but the following ones should.  The A/C unit sort of sounds like one of those tire pump air compressors.  Leaving a few minutes late won't hurt anything either... it'll continue to run up to 15 minutes after your go time before it stops on its own.

 

And like everybody else said, just make sure the car is plugged in.  Are you on 240v or 120?

On the Go and Value charge screen in the car click the Edit button for the Go time.

On the next screen there are big ON and OFF buttons in the upper right corner.

Those are the master control for Go times.  If it's turned off there,  nothing that is done anywhere else will matter.

Thank you for your input gentlemen. I did have the Go Times set to on in the car and I set three times last evening. One for 7 pm last night that came and went with no preconditioning and two for this morning at 8 am and 9am. At this time the 8 am button is the only one that is blue, in the car.

 

The yellow light on the charger is blinking and the green light is solid and the fan on the battery is running. The temp here, at the moment, is 84 degrees in the shade. With the battery fan running, I am pretty sure the ICE will come on if the Go Time works.

 

I will report back in about an hour.

Nope, neither of the two Go Times activated this morning. Do you think it would be worth doing the soft reboot posted by neod192 on another forum?

But let ask you this. On the touch screen in your car, is the battery figure solid blue at 100% charge? Mine says 100% and I show a 25 mile charge but the battery figure looks like it's about 25%...it is blue at the bottom and dark above that.

Mine is the same.  I don't know what that is intended to mean.  There is a light blue triangle at the bottom left of the battery symbol.  The rest of the battery symbol is black.  My battery is at 100%.
