Rhyalus Posted May 11, 2013 at 11:15 AM Report Share Posted May 11, 2013 at 11:15 AM Hello All, Anyone purchase the extended warranty, also known as premiumcare? I think it is worth it, especially on a new vehicle like this. Let's have a thread with some comparative pricing... Our first offer was 3000 for the 6 yr 75k plan... We quickly talked them down to 1250 for the 5 yr 60k plan but without glass etching. We have not purchased anything yet as there is plenty of time and no need to spread out the payment in the monthly loan payments. Thoughts? larryh Posted May 11, 2013 at 12:53 PM Report Share Posted May 11, 2013 at 12:53 PM I purchased the Ford ESP PremiumCARE 7 year/75000 mile plan with a $200 deductible from a local dealer for $900. Their web site is http://andersonandkoch-ford-warranty.com/. There are several other Ford dealers that have web pages for Ford ESP. Russael Posted May 11, 2013 at 12:58 PM Report Share Posted May 11, 2013 at 12:58 PM There was a pretty decent discussion about extended warranties under the 'Welcome to 2020: Ford Fusion Energi' thread. www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/topic/781-welcome-to-2020-ford-fusion-energi-technology/ But to reiterate what I had said in that thread, I feel the ESPs are totally worth it just for the place of mind, especially since I really abused the ESP I got on my 1999 Expedition. Like Larryh, I'm going to get a 7 year, 75k plan, but I'm going to go with the 100 dollar deductible, which should make my cost 1030. I seem to have not so good luck with cars and repairs, even though they're maintained with top shelf products and always have service done at the appropriate times. Rhyalus Posted May 11, 2013 at 01:15 PM Author Report Share Posted May 11, 2013 at 01:15 PM Good grief! Are these prices for real? This is so much cheaper than my dealer... Who are these guys and how do they do it? For a NY, 6 yr, 75k premiumcare with a $100 deductible with no additional rental protection the cost is $780... My dealer offered 5 yr 60k for 1250 (not sure what the deductible was). R
larryh Posted May 11, 2013 at 01:53 PM Report Share Posted May 11, 2013 at 01:53 PM (edited) The dealer I purchased the car from said they could not offer me the Ford ESP warranty at that price and offered to sell me a more expensive warranty ($1400) from another company instead. So I went to another local dealer (the one I mentioned above). I asked how they could offer it at that price while my other dealer could not. He stated that they are not making much money and that the dealer I bought that car from could offer me the warranty at that price. I have a signed copy of the warranty. I went to the dealership and purchased it. This is the dealer that I used previously to service my old car. I have not yet checked to see if it is entered into Ford OASIS tracking system yet so other dealers would recognize it. I will have to ask. larryh Posted May 17, 2013 at 09:55 AM Report Share Posted May 17, 2013 at 09:55 AM (edited) I called the dealer I bought the car from the other day and verified that the Ford ESP warranty was entered into the system. So, yes the prices from Anderson-Koch are for real. Edited May 17, 2013 at 11:38 AM by larryh
Russael Posted May 17, 2013 at 10:48 AM Report Share Posted May 17, 2013 at 10:48 AM My salesperson told me they couldn't match Flood Ford's offerings either and to buy it though them. OK, no problem. :) Nothing worse to a salesperson than a well informed customer especially when it comes to money.

That shows you how much profit is built into the normal price that the dealers offer -- your dealer buys the warranty from Ford for the same price, but apparently would rather have $0 profit (and lose the sale) than the $100 or so that FloodFord (from whom I've bought 3 of these, goes without a hitch) makes on them, and what they too would make on them, but then maybe word gets around town and past customers come back in the door to raise a fuss over the price difference? GregKet1 Posted May 17, 2013 at 10:38 PM Report Share Posted May 17, 2013 at 10:38 PM I just had this conversation with my dealer. He wanted $1900 for the 7/75,000 with $200 deductible so I showed him where it could be purchased on-line for $900. After looking in his pricing book and finding it only cost him $775 he was willing to match the $900 with no problems. BTW, the 7/75,000 $100 deductible has a cost of $995. Since FORD foots the repair bills, it costs them nothing for the fixes. Any profit is just that, pure profit.
jeff_h Posted May 18, 2013 at 12:22 AM Report Share Posted May 18, 2013 at 12:22 AM After looking in his pricing book and finding it only cost him $775 he was willing to match the $900 with no problems. Like I thought, $100 or so.... my cousin is a GM of a Toyota dealership, said that the $1,695 "on special down from $1,995" extended warranty for my Prius ($1,695 is what the purchasing dealer quoted) costed about $650 to purchase from Toyota - I figured the pricing to dealers on Fords was probably similar, and looks like your dealer decided that making 100 bucks was better than making 0 bucks. Rhyalus Posted May 18, 2013 at 12:46 PM Author Report Share Posted May 18, 2013 at 12:46 PM Quite frankly, if there is no issue with buying online, I say "to hell" with the guy that was going to rip me off in the dealership. The guy online should be rewarded. R jeff_h
Rhyalus Posted May 18, 2013 at 12:58 PM Author Report Share Posted May 18, 2013 at 12:58 PM (edited) BTW, does anyone know if these extended warranties are transferrable? EDIT - NEVER MIND - FOUND THE ANSWER WHICH IS YES. Also, is Anderson and Koch the best place to buy online? I am probably going to buy this weekend. Thanks!R Edited May 18, 2013 at 01:05 PM by Rhyalus
larryh Posted May 18, 2013 at 01:05 PM Report Share Posted May 18, 2013 at 01:05 PM (edited) Yes--the extended warranties are transferrable. Is an ESP contract transferable if I sell my vehicle?Yes. For a $75 transfer fee you can transfer your contract to another person (private party) to give them the added confidence of Ford ESP. Coverage is transferable from private party to private party, through the life of the contract. The fee may vary by state. There are many other internet sites that offer the Ford ESP warranty. I selected Anderson-Koch because I was familiar with them--they were only 15 miles away from me. I was hesitant to purchase from a dealer on the internet that I was not familiar with. I have not purchased from Anderson-Koch, however also check prices from floodfordesp.com - I have purchased three from them without a hitch and about the get the fourth. But I agree with Rhyalus - why ask the local dealer to match the online guy's price and still give him $100 profit? I'd rather give that $100 profit to the guy who was up-front in the first place rather than the one who started off by asking for an extra $1,000 until he was found out. Rhyalus Posted May 19, 2013 at 01:04 AM Author Report Share Posted May 19, 2013 at 01:04 AM Thanks everyone... Anderson Koch and Flood were almost the same (Flood was $40 less). I added the automatic day rental for $40 and settled on Flood Ford. 6yr, 75k, $50 deductible, $860 ($900 with the rental). R
Fusion1 Posted August 18, 2014 at 04:00 AM Report Share Posted August 18, 2014 at 04:00 AM Have there been any Canadians that have purchased the extended warranty from the US?
garymkrieg Posted August 18, 2014 at 03:03 PM Report Share Posted August 18, 2014 at 03:03 PM So I'm confused. Looking at the PremiumCARE brochure it states "Rental Vehicle Benefits − Provides coverage for up to 10 days of rental for a covered repair". When I read that I got the impression that that was one of the included benefits. But when you actually select your plan they then offer "First Day Rental" and "Enhanced Retal" for an extra charge. So to get the "Rental Vehicle Benefits" you have to purchase those as an additional charge, is that correct? Gary
Hybridbear Posted September 10, 2014 at 02:18 PM Report Share Posted September 10, 2014 at 02:18 PM I believe this is discussed elsewhere and the answer is that the "First Day Rental" means you get a rental for repairs that take less than 1 day. Otherwise you only get a rental if repairs take multiple days.
Hybridbear Posted September 10, 2014 at 02:20 PM Report Share Posted September 10, 2014 at 02:20 PM The cost increases by $100 from Flood Ford if you wait and buy your ESP when the car is more than 1 year old or greater than a certain miles on the odometer. We will likely wait until the 3/36 warranty is about to expire and then make a decision on the extended warranty based on where we are at that time. Too many things can change for me to buy it now.
