PA EV Guy Posted February 3, 2022 at 12:00 AM Report Share Posted February 3, 2022 at 12:00 AM 180k miles last 50k engine issues started, only shutting car off and sitting a while will solve it. Ford has no idea and I can't pay no more labor for them to guess. Any thoughts ideas Thank you!
jsamp Posted February 18, 2022 at 06:05 AM Report Share Posted February 18, 2022 at 06:05 AM (edited) Sorry, I should have read the title better. before posting. I don't have any ideas for you other than something overheating. Maybe a battery cooling fan bit the dust? TRILLS Posted July 5, 2022 at 10:38 PM Report Share Posted July 5, 2022 at 10:38 PM (edited) I have this exact same issue...After a long drive my ICE decides not to turn off and go into EV mode. I then start to get an warning indicator "High Motor Temperature" in stop and go traffic... Did you ever figure this issue out? My ford Dealership couldn't replicate it. An there are no codes that pop up in the OBDII reader. What doesn't help is that I also need a new transmission too, but at $7400 I'm not trying to find out that I need another $XXXX to fix this over heating issue. my car is a 2014 and has 200k miles on it. I'd rather send it to the scrap yard. FORD doesn't know if the Transmission issues and overheating issues are related. testriderchuck Posted July 16, 2022 at 03:43 PM Report Share Posted July 16, 2022 at 03:43 PM I found another post, similar issue. Turns out the battery cooling fan wire was routed poorly across a sharp metal edge, chafed through and shorted out. Blowing some fuses. I fixed shorting issue, but Ford documentation was misleading as to which fuse. Ended up taking to dealer, paid them $170 to replace a fuse and a "bad" breaker. jj2me
