BadRock Posted May 9, 2013 at 01:44 AM Report Share Posted May 9, 2013 at 01:44 AM With only 16A (3.8kw) and a 12' cord, I think I'll pass and go with the ClipperCreek LCS-25. It's rated at 20A continuous (4.8kw) and has a 20' cord for $150 more. jeff_h and TX NRG
meyersnole Posted May 9, 2013 at 03:25 AM Report Share Posted May 9, 2013 at 03:25 AM There is also a 30A with 18' cord for just under $600, and a 30A with 25' cord for $750.... not bad. Would love to see some reviews on these. Bosch is pretty mainstream though, I might have to add this to my consideration list.

If buying with a future BEV in mind, it would be better to go with a chargepoint capable of supporting a 6.6kw onboard charger. BadRock Posted May 9, 2013 at 05:01 AM Report Share Posted May 9, 2013 at 05:01 AM I agree whole heartedly, but the 12' cord really is a deal breaker. Plus you can make the ClipperCreek mobile very easily. If you don't have the need for more that 12' of cord than this one is for you. rtshinn Posted May 9, 2013 at 01:09 PM Report Share Posted May 9, 2013 at 01:09 PM Glad to see the prices starting to moderate. There isn't much in the way of hardware on these things to justify prices more than a couple of hundred bucks. So far, low volume and little competition has kept the prices high, imo. rspray Posted May 9, 2013 at 01:54 PM Report Share Posted May 9, 2013 at 01:54 PM Agreed on the 12' being deal-killer. I almost cancelled my Clipper Creek order when someone (mistakely) posted that it was a 16' cord. Granted it might have still worked for my application, but just barely. Situations/installations can change, and I don't yet know what re-sale value is for seemingly over-priced extension cords with an SAE connector are, but I imagine it's not good. newbeetle18t Posted May 9, 2013 at 04:24 PM Report Share Posted May 9, 2013 at 04:24 PM (edited) Looks like no option to purchase charger to install yourself or use your own electrician, so the $449 charger price is a little misleading. Correction : On the charger model page it states 3 year warranty with installation and 1 year without. So there may be a way to buy this without install. If you don't have the need for more that 12' of cord than this one is for you.Did I mention I got a 25 foot cord with the Levition. Thats over twice the length! And I am hoping that is enough reach for our next vehicle(A Full EV). Nissan Leaf charges from the front, Tesla from the rear, and others on this side or that, here or there. If I end up having to use a charging pad then the extra length will be for nothing. Edited May 11, 2013 at 02:14 AM by FusionEnergi
