Excessive charging

I, recently charged the battery at a Volta station for about 1.5 hours. After, battery range was 35 miles. Initial charge was 12 miles. 

Should I be concerned?

Battery range is a sophisticated wild guess.  It is a mathematical calculation based on a lot of parameters.  There is no known way to measure the charge in a Li-Ion battery accurately.

The maximum charge rate for an Energi is 240 volts at 16 amps which is 3.84 kW.

 

You will not be able to drive 35 miles on battery unless the whole trip is down a steep hill.

Thank you for responding. So short answer is no cause for alarm. Normally the charging stops at 25 mile range. I also only try to charge to about 80% or 20 miles so was surprised that it went past that in such a short time.

There is battery protection built in.  When the car says 100% that is 100% of what Ford allows you to use.  The actual battery percentage is around 95% as determined by several people using OBD2 scanners.  I charged my 2013 to 100% exclusively until I traded it in on June 28 for a 2021 Mach-E.
