expresspotato Posted May 31, 2021 at 07:57 PM Report Share Posted May 31, 2021 at 07:57 PM (edited) Hello, I would like to issue a stern warning to all those who drive a Ford Fusion or C-Max that is a Hybrid or Plug-In Hybrid (Energi) variant. For the past 2 years I have been experiencing serious headaches with no real reason in mind, other than my longer than normal day to day use of my Fusion Energi. These headaches were always on the left side of my head, so I found it odd that they're always in the same place. After many months of guessing I noticed the high voltage cables in the Fusion are much closer to the occupant cabin than any other hybrid car, including Camry, Prius, Hyundi Sonata, etc. Upon further inspection everything seemed fine, those cables have some level of shielding and are insulated to prevent damage to them. Or so I thought... After removing the plastic cover on the part that sits closest to me you couldn't believe my face when I saw that the shielding around the part that faces directly towards me had been wiggled open and is exactly on the same spot as the left side of my head where the pain is. After reading the measurements of this on a gauss meter, it goes to 20 mg, 80 mg, 100, mg, 180, 200... then Over Load. This is with the car standing still at ~ 5-10 KW I can't even imagine the radiation exposure when it's in motion ? Ford should be sued into oblivion with a class action suit. There is no fixing sitting that close to something that gives off more than 200 mG when the engine is just on. It's not my responsibility to fix a design flaw in Ford motor cars that's causing physical damage to me. I'm not driving this death trap of a car. After not driving the car for 2 months and driving it for one day the pain returned. Blasting radiation straight at me for years.
theterminator93 Posted June 1, 2021 at 07:23 PM Report Share Posted June 1, 2021 at 07:23 PM Where exactly is this cable located? How is it accessed for inspection? How far away from the cable were you getting your measurements?
Davidoo Posted June 5, 2021 at 01:53 AM Report Share Posted June 5, 2021 at 01:53 AM Sorry, but I don't buy this. This supposed cable in the engine compartment somehow only affects the left side of your head? How is that cable any closer to the left side of your head than the other parts of your head or body? Do you also think 5G cell towers caused Covid-19? jsamp
theterminator93 Posted June 5, 2021 at 01:26 PM Report Share Posted June 5, 2021 at 01:26 PM I am skeptical as well. If this cable is in the engine compartment (is it one of the cables from the inverter to the transmission?) it sounds like the OP measured the magnetic field right at the cable. It's not atypical for household electronics to emit several times the magnetic radiation mentioned here from an inch or so away. But as soon as you get a couple feet away from the source, the magnetic field dissipates rapidly. A microwave can emit 2000 mG at 1 inch, but from 1 foot that drops to 40-80. From 3 feet it's only 3-8. jsamp and Davidoo
