12 Speakers in the 2013 Titanium Energi

It shouldn't be.  I've been looking for a speaker location thing myself... kind of hard to find.  One thing that annoys me is that they say a 2 way speaker is 2 individual speakers.  In a way, it is, but I don't like it when they do that.  If that were the case, I could say I have a 10 speaker stereo in my Focus (4, 2 way speakers and a sub in the trunk with dual elements).

From what I know - there are 2 speakers in each door (8 total), 1 in the middle of your dash for the 5.1 surround), and 3 in the deck lid (sub and 2 other speakers).

I see four speaker covers in the back tray but I only see three exposed speakers in the trunk. I thought maybe the one in the overhead console was the sub woofer because it vibrates like crazy with the bass and is dormant otherwise. At any rate I fooled around with the fade, bass, treble mid range settings this afternoon and it sounds much better. I just didn't want to be driving around with one speaker not working.

Sounds like you've got a rattle that the bass amplifies.  There are no speakers in the roof... never seen a design that way before.  Most of the time, they put the sub in the trunk, so I'm VERY GLAD they didn't do that with the Fusions, and especially the Energi model.  I also like the fact that the sub is in the interior of the car and not in the trunk.  It should sound a lot better.

Dunno why they made 4 grilles for 3 speakers for the deck.

The car was in the garage and I was going by feel. It's pretty hard to see black in the garage and the windows tinted dark. Anyway, you had me wondering about the fourth grill so I took a flash light out to have a look. The fourth grill covers the baby seat anchor which is painted the same color as the car, but you can't see it for the grill. I actually find it a little odd.

The grille in the overhead should be the mic for voice commands and noise canceling system. The extra grille in the back is for air circulation to keep the batteries temperature controlled.

Okay, makes sense, there are holes/vents in the thingy (a very technical term) under the grill. But the hook you attach the baby seat is there too and it appears to be attached to the thingy.
