BuckeyeRich Posted April 29, 2021 at 04:40 AM Report Share Posted April 29, 2021 at 04:40 AM I bought my 2017 Fusion Energi used. Not too long after I bought the car, it stopped on me on the highway and gave me the Stop Safely Now message. I was going around 70 and hit a slight bump on the highway, and the car turned off. Pulled to the side, put it in park, turned it off and then on, and it ran fine. Since then it has happened 10 or more times. I can now reliably get it to turn off and show this message by driving on a gravel road and hitting a bump in the road at 20mph. I have had it at the dealership four times for over 4 weeks. I have also escalated to Ford corporate and they have a tech dealing with the people at the dealership. Today, they texted me an estimate to repair the car. They recommend two actions, neither of which is guaranteed to fix the problem. Here are the quotes: Comments: After following codes and speaking with Ford, we believe the best course of action will be to replace the battery junction box which houses the tcm power relay which based on the codes is failing. We are not able to duplicate concern in the bay so it would be recommend to replace the Battery Junction Box and retest. This is not guaranteed to fix concern just a starting point. Original Approved: $0.00 information Repair Estimate: $771.07 TOTAL APPROVED: $0.00 If this doesn’t work, then they want to do what’s listed below. It looks to me like they are fishing and have no idea. Why on earth would I pay that kind of money when they don’t know if it will solve the problem? I really don’t know what to do at this point unless Ford can show the way or someone has an idea. I don’t intend to take the car back until it is fixed, however, because it is a huge safety risk. ort Custom Recommendation Comments: IF AFTER REPLACING BJB WE WILL THEN NEED TO REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS TO THE TCM AND RETEST, AGAIN THIS STILL MAY NOT FIX THE CONCERN Repair Estimate: $3084.
muzicman61 Posted April 30, 2021 at 07:04 PM Report Share Posted April 30, 2021 at 07:04 PM Turning off while driving 70mph seems like a real safety issue. If that is the case, I'd probably pay the $771 and hope it fixes it. Unless someone here has a better idea or has experienced this to and has another solution. I agree option 2 sounds like a hail Mary. Assuming you bought it used and have no warranty. BuckeyeRich
