howardbc Posted April 14, 2013 at 01:11 AM Report Share Posted April 14, 2013 at 01:11 AM Hi, everyone. 1) Maybe I'm still just not used to the Fusion Energi driver's seat after using a lumbar cushion in my Toyota Prius for 5+ years, but the Energi's lumbar feature doesn't seem strong enough to feel good to me. I will ask the Service Dept to make sure it is working correctly. I can feel it coming out but I still can't seem to get totally comfortable. In fact I'm going to put my own lumbar cushion back in the seat. I've tried adjusting the seat many times in many ways. I keep feeling like I'm bent too far forward even though I have let the seat back go back. Anyone else have a problem with the driver's seat? 2) I was very surprised that the charging port cannot be locked/unlocked from the interior of the Energi. The Chevy Volt has this feature. I worry that some Neanderthal will pour a soda or put chewing gum or something into the charging port. Am I the only one who worries about stuff like this? Also, this morning I almost drove off with the charging port door still open. I had disconnected the cord but forgot to close the port door. But getting more and more used to the car every day and am loving it. I still haven't found the perfect display for the left side of the speedometer. I want the odometer to show, the battery icon to show, and the amount of EV time/miles left. I had it but was showing off and now can't find it again. ;) I belong to a local electric auto club and want to be able to answer all questions at the next meeting. Thanks. FusionEnergi Posted April 14, 2013 at 01:42 AM Report Share Posted April 14, 2013 at 01:42 AM (edited) I also feel the seat lumbar seemed weak. I am starting to get used to it, but I would like more support.I would love to be able to lock the port door. I also have thought someone could pour out their coke or beer into it. Not cool. One trip I forgot to close the port and drove around. I dont think anyone even noticed. I was looking at each person who passed by to see if they would see me in the Energi, but no one looked over. I guess they were in their own world. When I arrived at my destination and say the port door open I just laughed. If you want noticed I guess you need antlers or those goofy eyelashes for your headlights. rprobst Posted April 14, 2013 at 09:05 PM Report Share Posted April 14, 2013 at 09:05 PM (edited) Yes, I have also driven with the port open. How uncool! Why are you more paranoid about someone pouring a beer into the charge port than someone pouring a beer into your gas tank? Or do you also want a lock on your gas door? Scooter80 Posted April 14, 2013 at 09:50 PM Report Share Posted April 14, 2013 at 09:50 PM Yes, I have also driven with the port open. How uncool! I've also driven with the charge port open. My wife did 36 miles twice with it open. Didn't notice it was open even though she got out and back in at work. Ha! The gas door is locked. Can only open from the button on the center console. FusionEnergi
Energized Posted April 14, 2013 at 10:01 PM Report Share Posted April 14, 2013 at 10:01 PM I admit to driving with the charge door open too. I now try to remember to follow a process where I: 1) Remove charge plug2) Immediately shut charge door3) then return the charge plug to its storage spot Before, I was more concerned about storing the plug and wrapping the cable that I would forget about closing the door. FusionEnergi Posted April 15, 2013 at 12:42 AM Report Share Posted April 15, 2013 at 12:42 AM (edited) I was born and raised in WV so beer or shine in the gas tank doesn't worry me to much, that's how we starting the whole racing thing anyway. But still, are people really worried about some ass-hat vandalizing their charge port? What kind of world are we living in where that's a concern? <sigh> Edited April 15, 2013 at 02:57 PM by rprobst
mczajka Posted April 15, 2013 at 04:11 PM Report Share Posted April 15, 2013 at 04:11 PM 1) My biggest concern about the Volt was the seat (no lumbar). I tried one for a week and couldn't get comfortable. I'm tall with a bad lower back. I also owned a Fusion 2010 Hybrid which had a manual lumbar, and my opinion is the power lumbar on the Fusion Energi is a little better. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my seats, but I also have the Titanium Model. These may be slightly different than an SE (I'm not sure). My seats mold to your sides and have quite a few adjustments. 2) These cars look so much like a standard car that most people don't notice the charge door. Yes, it would be nice if it could lock and was beefier. Seems a little flimsy to me. I went to a Tesla Model S meetup and most people didn't even notice my car :(. I think it would be cool if you could keep the led "battery remaining" circle light on when you are driving. Then people would notice it, especially at night. rprobst Posted April 15, 2013 at 09:30 PM Report Share Posted April 15, 2013 at 09:30 PM Personally, I wanted a PHEV that looks just like a standard car. Don't need to label my car a Volt or Ampere (or Ohm??), thank you very much. TX NRG and rspray

You sure you don't want some lightning bolts or something? http://www.simiairgraphics.com/content/b987-lightning-bolt-full-color-vehicle-graphic :camera: howardbc
howardbc Posted April 17, 2013 at 01:07 AM Author Report Share Posted April 17, 2013 at 01:07 AM Hey, meyersnole. That is funny about the lightning bolts. Actually, maybe a small discreet lightning bolt sign by the charging port that says something like "Warning - electric charge" might be good. But let me know if you think of something snazzy to put on a license plate frame. Maybe something a little more ingenious than "Plugin Hybrid". I've had my Fusion Energi for less than 2 weeks but have gone 300+ miles on 1/3 of tank. I'm getting 30+ miles on the batteries. I am already spoiled and wish it had the 70-mile battery range of a pure electric PLUS the hybrid.
rprobst Posted April 17, 2013 at 01:24 AM Report Share Posted April 17, 2013 at 01:24 AM I'm thinking of getting a license plate frame that says "PHORD PHUSION". Wonder how many people will get the reference?
Peter Kiener Posted April 17, 2013 at 11:26 AM Report Share Posted April 17, 2013 at 11:26 AM howardbcI am in a similar status/state of mind; had my car 10 days , put on about 200 miles, all but 12 miles have been EV. I have got to like the "sound" or lack thereof of the EV drive so much that I hate it when the ICE kicks in. The first time though I was pleased about the smooth/seamless transition, I only really detected it by looking at the gauges I too would really like a PHEV that about 50-70 miles of range with the ICE back up
