Siemans Charger

I know most folks are likely to go with the Levitron (ford) charger

I just wanted to post that the Siemans Versicharge (L2)  works very well and easily with the NRG  I got the one with a plug so I could take it with me if I move.

It is very easy to connect up to the car and the thing I like most,  the EVSE has a dummy proof ( for me!!) delay offset for charging so you can set and for later (cheaper rates) and forget it.

The only thing I do not like is it does "buzz" a  bit even when not actually charging;  this makes me think I am just wasting some level of power. Fortunately, when I got it installed I also had the elctrician install a wall switch by it so most of the time it is completely off

The Ford/Leviton L2 charger is both quiet and runs cool, even when charging but the Siemans Versicharge L2 will do nicely. Don't forget you can also set charging times up on myfordmobile.com as well.

I've only taken a quick look at each, did like the Siemens model based on the video that a user posted on Amazon... I still need to do more looking.

The feature of setting the charge time as noted above is related to the car itself and the controls from the mobile app, and has nothing to do with whatever charger is used - is that correct?

Yes. However, Peter is saying he will be able to do it through his charger or myfordmobile.com...or that is how I read his post anyway.

No, the Siemens has the delay built into the unit itself for those vehicles which do not have a function similar to the MyFordMobile app. With the app, that feature on a chargepoint is redundant, but some may prefer to do it with the chargepoint rather than the app. That would make the app the redundant one. ;-)

If anybody is interested, I just got off the phone with Leviton concerning charge rates for the Energi. They have not done an analysis for the Fusion Energi at this time however he did give me the numbers for the CMax. The initial charge rate for the EVB40 L2 Charger is 3.6 kW which degrades to around 720 W near a full charge and then the unit draws 300mA quiescently (turn it off). This results in a much lower power cost than anticipated using their 9.6kW numbers. I am going to plot the actual curve as soon as I get my home unit. It looks as if the total power draw will be lower than 4kWh. We will see.
