New to the board, ordered a Fusion Energi Titanium too

Greetings,

I've been lurking on this forum for a couple months and finally decided to come out of the IP ether. :)

I'm also a person who ordered a Fusion Energi Titanium.  Getting it in Oxford White (I preferred the white white, rather than the more pearl color of the White Platinum) with the moonroof/garage door opener, navigation, and the adaptive cruise control.

I decided against active park asisst as I don't parallel park at all and I felt the driver assist package had a lot of features that I felt were... fluff.  I wanted the blind spot system but wasn't looking to spend a grand for it, and I was disinterested in auto high beams, auto window wipers (I use rain-x or aquapel... don't need no stinkin wipers. ;)) and decided against the lane assist feature.  If I can't keep the car on the road myself, I don't need to be driving.  LOL

I ordered back in January, and the order was submitted by my dealer on Jan 29th.  Been bothering my sales person a fair amount (the last time yesterday on Friday) and he still has no VIN, build date, or ETA on delivery.  I've looked at the spreadsheet kept up by JTaylor and noticed quite a few people actually have ETAs of early April even for people who had orders submitted in Feb.  I find it suspect that he has no information for my own ride... but on the bright side, it gives me more time to save. :)

Plan on getting Ziebart's paint armor and rust proof package.  This is going to be my new daily driver, replacing a 2001 Ford Focus SE.

I decided to go with the Fusion as I've been investigating electric cars for a LONG time (big technology nerd here), and I feel the plugin hybrids are the best of both worlds.  I get the electric car I've been wanting while not being limited by range or charging stations.  Secondly, my round trip to work is 12 miles.  Battery capacity is ideal for me.  I think the PHEV segment is the perfect vehicle to transition from the gasoline platform to the electric one.

I had checked out the Focus Electric too and love it, except the sound system (no sub... I'm a music nut and saw that the Fusion had the nice, powerful system).  If it had that, it MIGHT'VE swung me in that direction.  Other drawback was NO trunk space.  Besides, I wanted something a little bigger and the Fusion fit the bill perfectly.  Oh yeah - no A-Plan on the Focus Electric either.

I bought and installed (myself) a Leviton charging station.  I went with the smaller 3.8KW model because of the size of the charger onboard the car.  I do not foresee myself getting rid of this car.  I still have the first vehicle I bought - 1999 Expedition.  And that's staying. :)

Well, I'm sure I made you guys crosseyed by now with this wall of text, so I'll leave it here.  Hope the people who have taken delivery are loving every mile they drive. :)

Hey Russael, welcome to the forum. I do hope your sales steps up and does his job in getting you a build date, etc.

I took delivery of my Energi on 3/26 and have loved every minute of driving it. I do a lot of short round trips, the longest of which is about 16 miles, and I have had all EV miles of 150 and 160 mpge's on two different trips. That just seems insane to even say. I think I am going to have to carry my camera with me to prove myself though.

On the flip side I went on a 60 mile round tripper on the freeway the other night and averaged 59.9 mpge's  and used .67 gallons of gas. That's not quite as good as using all EV miles but I will have had the car for two weeks this coming Tuesday and have not used a quarter tank of gas yet and have 396 miles on the car.

Freeway miles kill all of those good EV miles you bank and it's heart breaking to watch the mpge average fall like a rock.

I'm a lot lighter in my wallet than I was two weeks ago but I having fun making the car look nice. Oh, and I love the sound system too.

Anyway, welcome again and I hope you get good news soon.

I, too, am new to the board while waiting for my Bourdeaux Titanium to be delivered.  I'm a geek who needs all the gimmicks, so I got the Driver Assist (and moonroof, and nav, and cruise) but decided not to get the Parking Assist after heading how it can get annoying unless you disable it.  I can parallel park by myself, but it's very rare to find a spot.  Who wants to park a nice car like that on the street anyway?

Ordered on 3/14 with an estimated lead time of 6-8 weeks.  After reading the stories here, I'm not hopeful. So until it shows up on the lot, I'll just enjoy my new car vicarously through you folks.

BTW, my nickname, http, is what I have on my license plate.  I'm a software engineer and webmaster.

I can believe the higher MPGe's if you're running in EV Now.  The window sticker, even though indicating 21 miles at 100MPGe, indicates that it's a combo of electric AND gas (I assume for those who drive with a lead foot and want to accelerate more quickly, or who are driving in EV Auto).  I'm a conservative driver... speed limit on the freeway in MI is 70 and I putz along at 65 in the right lane.  I found that gives me the best fuel economy without running the A/C in summer.  I get quite a ways over EPA on both vehicles doing that.  And that's not hypermiling either.  I do the same thing when I take my yearly road trip to Baltimore, MD.  Scored a nice 21MPG in my 4 wheel drive Expedition with 5.4L.  It isn't getting that now (get mid19's) as I'm sure my O2 sensors are due to be swapped (105k on it now).  EPA on it is 12/16 city/highway.  Focus has had as high as 36MPG... and I think EPA on that was 22/30 city/highway.

I was following Pluggedin's order status quite a bit myself. :)  Looks like it was a grand total of about 4 1/2 months to take delivery, but he ordered back when I didn't know they could be ordererd.  I was hoping that my wait wouldn't be quite as long, but it isn't looking good.  I'd be interested to see when you (http) get your car information.

I'm a CMTS (cable modem termination system) engineer at a cable company.  For those who have cable internet, it's the giant router back at the headend that your cable modem talks to.

Honestly, I don't know who's more excited to see this car... me or everybody else I've told.  LOL  If Pluggedin is seriously getting over 140MPGe (not MPG) then I'm going to be blowing people's minds like crazy.  Viva la electricity! :)

As far as keeping the MPGs reasonable on the freeway with the Fusion Energi, I'm probably going to treat it the same way... 65 MPH with the windows down.  Running the A/C at speed saving gas is rubbish.  Tried it several times and it usually costs me at least 10% in fuel running A/C vs windows down on the highway at 65.  Reason I'll run the fusion that way is that the active grill shutters shut at 62MPH I believe... so travelling at 65 should keep'em shut.  It'll be very interesting to see how this goes.  I can't wait to get my ride.
