robrodriguez6 Posted July 27, 2020 at 03:30 AM Report Share Posted July 27, 2020 at 03:30 AM Hi, My 2014 Engeri battery was dead. So I jump started it and everything started up great! Well like an idiot I plugged I plugged in the charger while the car was on and everything turned off. I tried to jump it again and the lights didn't turn on at all or any of the displays inside of the car. Did I blow a fuse or something? Please help. murphy Posted July 27, 2020 at 11:04 AM Report Share Posted July 27, 2020 at 11:04 AM Measure the voltage of the 12 volt battery. If it has died your only option is to replace it, especially if it is the original battery. The car can't be on while charging so that part is expected. A completely discharged wet cell lead acid battery will sustain internal damage. I'm guessing that one of the cells has shorted out.
16vjohn Posted July 27, 2020 at 06:04 PM Report Share Posted July 27, 2020 at 06:04 PM A jump start should allow the car to turn on, even if the 12v is completely toast. I agree with Murphy, test the voltage. It might not be a bad idea to remove the battery and have it tested and/or use an external charger. Though likd was mentioned, if it's the original battery, it probably needs to be replaced anyway.
robrodriguez6 Posted July 27, 2020 at 06:28 PM Author Report Share Posted July 27, 2020 at 06:28 PM I called Ford and they said I might have blown a fuse when I plugged in the charger while the car was on. They said I have to look through all the fuses to check which one blew. Would you all have any idea which fuse you think it is?
16vjohn Posted July 27, 2020 at 07:18 PM Report Share Posted July 27, 2020 at 07:18 PM If you've got nothing, no power to anything, you're probably looking at a main fuse which would be under the hood on the right side of the engine bay. As an FYI, I've plugged my car in while it's on before without issue. Public charger while allowing the AC and radio to continue functioning. Yeah, I'm an idiot sometimes, but seems this thing is pretty much idiot proof. LOL I plugged and unplugged in all sorts of scenarios and it has always been fine. And yes, it DOES charge while car is on. In fact, it says in the manual you can set a schedule to start the car and run AC/Heat, etc. to make it comfy while it's still on the charger. I think it's a rather cool function of the Fusion!
