drwhipps Posted March 29, 2013 at 12:48 PM Report Share Posted March 29, 2013 at 12:48 PM HowdyThis forum has been a great resource for information - not to mention giving me the new car bug ...I pick up the new toy after work today - grabbed a loaded Bordeaux Energi Titanium as soon as the dealer posted it on their site. The test drive pretty much sealed the deal. While I was not able to bargain (deal wise) very much, the available incentives (all ending soon) made it worthwhile to pull the trigger now (instead of waiting a few months.)I traded in my 2010 Fusion Hybrid - which I was very happy with - for what should be an even better car. Folks in MD - dont forget to send in the rebate of up to $2000 for the sales/excise tax - my dealer did not know about this one. (I saw this in a forum thread.) There is a form on the MD MVA site you send in to get a refund on a plug in hybrid vehicle - this ends June 2013. I am really looking forward to driving this baby home tonight. Peter Kiener Posted March 29, 2013 at 01:29 PM Report Share Posted March 29, 2013 at 01:29 PM CongratsMy Bordeaux red NRG TI is supposed to be at my dealer in G'burg MD in a couple of weeks; I am impatient. IF you do not mind me asking, what incentives?
drwhipps Posted March 29, 2013 at 04:44 PM Author Report Share Posted March 29, 2013 at 04:44 PM The incentives I knew of were the $1500 cash back for purchasers and the $3750 cash back for lease. Folks who purchased the car can get the $1500 rebate and then the $3750 as a federal income tax credit. If you lease the car FORD will give $3750 as a rebate (since you can not claim on your income tax) but not the $1500.I was told that these FORD offers would be ending 4/1 as well as the very favorable lease and finance rates. The dealer also mentioned the $3750 income tax credit would not be permanent but did not say when it would go away. The MD state excise tax rebate was valid on a lease or purchase and according to MD MVA site ends June 2013 or until the money runs out. If I did that, I was told, they would park the car on the lot for sale. Fine I said, I know where there are two more Energi just like mine, color and options, and I would go buy one of those likely for less then they are willing to sell the car for. Then they offered to split the difference on the $750 and I took it just to close the deal but I will be calling Ford on Monday. I know there were coupons out there that expired later, but I didn't have one.

joeblow231 Posted March 30, 2013 at 12:08 AM Report Share Posted March 30, 2013 at 12:08 AM You might want to double check on that Maryland tax rebate. I heard that the program ran out of money earlier this month.
Peter Kiener Posted March 30, 2013 at 09:45 AM Report Share Posted March 30, 2013 at 09:45 AM you are correctposted on MD DMV website "Effective March 16, 2013, the Excise Tax Credit for the purchase of Plug in Electric Vehicles will no longer be available when submitting a titling request to the MVA. The Strategic Energy Investment Fund allotted for this fiscal year has been exhausted. However, purchasers of Plug-in Electric Vehicles may continue to request HOV Permits." Well that is just perfect! :banghead: I was really expecting to get that back. When I looked on the DMV site a while back (and printed) said it was “Effective October 1, 2010 through June 30, 2013”. Nowhere in the “Criteria” or anywhere on the page did it say anything about a limited availability of funds. I bet it does in the MD statute, but that really bites! http Posted April 7, 2013 at 01:22 PM Report Share Posted April 7, 2013 at 01:22 PM So YOU'RE the guy who got the Bordeaux at Apple Ford! I'm in Virginia and was trying to get a local dealer to grab that car for me. They offered to do so if I would pony up $4,000 over sticker. I opted not to do that. So now I'm waiting for my car to be assembled and shipped. The dealer expects it by the end of May, but after reading this board, I'm not hopeful. Most of the VA dealers only have 1 or 2. I noticed that Apple has 15 in stock. What's the deal? Hope you enjoy your Energi

Koons in Baltimore has another Bordeaux SE with even more options. There is also one where I got my car in Durham (5 hour drive or pretty cheap flight) and I know they will deal (forget paying over list). The Titanium Bordeaux seems a little harder to find.
