murphy Posted February 24, 2020 at 11:06 AM Report Share Posted February 24, 2020 at 11:06 AM Of course the battery is being used. Another name for EV Later is Hybrid mode. There is only one high voltage battery in the car. When you select EV Later the car saves 95% of the current battery SOC. If you make multiple stops at each start it saves 95% which means the SOC is going down.
jsamp Posted February 27, 2020 at 06:00 AM Report Share Posted February 27, 2020 at 06:00 AM When you put it in EV Later, assuming it is not at 100% charge, it keeps the current charge as it's "set point". From there, it will go up by as much as 2% and down by as much as 5%. Depending on the load on the car, it might or might not run the ICE as long as it is within that 7% range. When it gets low, it will run the ICE to charge back up to your set point. It is basically acting as a hybrid with your current set point as the middle of the range. This is the same behavior as a Fusion Hybrid all the time, and your Energi when it is out of range on the EV portion of the battery. If you are above 95% when you switch to EV Later, it will put 95% as your set point, to leave a little room for regenerative braking.
