Issue with Charge Port Light

Hi, all,

I've got a 2018 Energi Titanium and the charge port light stays on all the time no matter what setting it is on, even off.  I have to reset the mode on the screen every time I park for it to not stay on until the car is started again.

I'm also noticing about a 2-3 mile decrease in miles on a charge.  Not sure if they are connected or not, or if the ridiculously hot and humid weather we

re having also has an impact on charging.

Any ideas or do I need to take it in to the dealer?  I'm hoping to not have to take a day off for service if I can avoid it.

Thanks.

Sounds like it might be a dealer issue.  The ring itself is just a dummy PCB with LEDs on it.  The computer tells it which lights to illuminate.

When it does this, does the whole ring light up (all 4 quadrants) or does it light up to whatever the charge level is?  Whenever you open the door, it is supposed to light up with the current charge, and stay on for about a minute or so.  Also, when you plug in, does the light ring cycle through the lights twice around clockwise, or is it just lit up all the time?

I have a 2018 and have the same issue too.  The charge port light stays completely lit up (all 4 quadrants) no matter what setting it is on and I'm getting 2-3 miles less on each charge than I used to when I first got the car (it worked correctly then).  It has been to the dealer once so far.  They were able to confirm the problem, but nothing they tried solved the problem.  Once they reset it, it worked for them but not once I took it home.

A coworker bought a 2019 and has the same issue with the charge port light, but I will have to ask him about the charging.

My 2017 also has this issue.  Charge port light worked perfectly for about two years and then it occasionally (once every two weeks) would need to have the setting changed to correct the light display.  I want the light set to off (or limited) so I had to temporarily (10 seconds) switch the setting to "on" in order to be able to return it to "off".  Over time this ceased working and the charge light stays on at all times now regardless of the setting position.  It still goes thru the start up procedure of flashing the quadrants in a circular fashion twice, and the level is correctly displayed as the level of charge goes up.  So the light is working properly, I have simply lost the ability to turn it off (or set it to limited for that matter).

Took the car to dealer for repair under warranty.  The report says the dealer "Checked for SOBDMC Codes U3000 Found SSM 46895        Reprogram PCM and BCM to Latest"    When I got the car home and plugged it in the problem was unchanged.  Charging port light still can not be switched off.
