Value Charges

Yes.  The software is awful...

We've had our 2018 since late September.  Took about 2 months to get our car charging at home during our value period, working with Ford's MyFord Mobile Support (2nd tier, US-based in Dearborn).  Sometimes what you setup on the website doesn't sync properly with the vehicle.

Ours had been working fine for several months, then on Weds it charged at the wrong time.  Not from the time change on Sunday, because it worked fine on Monday and Tuesday.

After setting the Value Charge profile on a desktop computer, ensuring it's turned on, and seeing it sync, if that doesn't work go into the vehicle and play with the settings to get it to sync again and see if that does it.

A new version of the backend of MyFord Mobile will be rolling out soon.

The vehicle will always charge when first plugged in.  It will charge to 10% and then wait for the value charge times.  My experience is it charges anywhere from about 7 to 12% despite the manual stating 10%.

I've read that, but I can tell you that we have not experienced this behavior.

Every day my wife returns with the car in hybrid mode and the battery at 0% (at least in the winter, last Fall she sometimes had maybe 3% left).  She plugs it in around 3:30.  Value charge time is set for 7PM - 11AM.  The car does not start charging until 7PM, unless that initial charge doesn't light the ring or trip an alert on the phone.  At 7PM we get an alert that the car has started charging.

It took many efforts to get this to work.  Last Wednesday and Thursday it did not work right, it started charging right away.  We unplugged it, and then plugged it back in after 7PM.  On Thursday I re-synched via the website, and Friday it worked fine.

I used to believe the 10% charging line, but don't any more.  My regular commute gets me home with ~10% battery.  With my value charge starting at 3AM it is ready within +/-5 minutes of 7:00am.  If I have driven extra and it is below 10% or even down into hybrid mode, the next morning it is nowhere near ready by 7am.

MAYBE it is charging to 10% of the whole battery if it is extremely deep into hybrid mode when you plug in, but not 10% of the plug-in portion.  That makes more sense to me.

I only use the center screen for value charge settings, so don't have experience with MFM.  But the only times it has not charged per my settings are when I have messed up and forgot to press "save" at the end of reprogramming.

Well not sure what is going on with the new MFM app update.  But yesterday when I got home with 0% battery I plugged it in.  It charged for 50 minutes to 13% (3:32pm to 4:22pm).  Then it charged for 10 minutes to 14% (4:59pm to 5:09pm).  The final charge was for 4 hours, 15 minutes (11:01pm to 3:16am).  My value charge times are 11:00pm to 4:00am.

I know I have also read on this forum that after the charging of the main battery is complete, the 12v battery is then charged. But I don't know if that is included in the MFM charge statistics.
