ramsdaro Posted February 26, 2019 at 01:14 PM Report Share Posted February 26, 2019 at 01:14 PM Hello all,I am having a tough time googling this as android auto has a wireless option itself, which to my knowledge is not supported by my 2018 for fusion energi. I do not know much about how wireless charging works. I just bought a google pixel 3, and was wondering if I put a wireless charger in my car usb port that had a little mount, if Android Auto would still work, or does it require a cable connection. 4cylinder Posted February 26, 2019 at 01:54 PM Report Share Posted February 26, 2019 at 01:54 PM (edited) Android Auto requires a cable connection in the Ford. Wireless charging cannot transmit data so simply plugging a wireless pad into the USB port won't work. Anyway given that the use of GPS is a serious battery drain, I wouldn't want to charge it wirelessly anyway - it would likely drain faster than it charges. Fgolman Posted February 27, 2019 at 03:07 AM Report Share Posted February 27, 2019 at 03:07 AM So, you're saying that you've got to use a USB cable for Android Auto to work? That would explain why on a rental 2019 FFH it sometimes did (I guess I plugged it in first) and sometimes not (just Bluetooth). Sync3 is not as new as some other head units out there so it only supports AA over a USB cable. In fact, I don't think wireless AA is supported on any factory infotainment system yet - I've only seen it in aftermarket units.
