TampaFusion Posted January 7, 2019 at 11:16 PM Report Share Posted January 7, 2019 at 11:16 PM On September 26 2018 my wife was on the highway during her morning commute in her 2013 Energi with about 60k miles. She got the Pull Over Safely message, and she was able to coast off. Long story short, we haven't got the car back yet. The local dealer says they are waiting for a replacement hybrid battery (warranteed), and that there just aren't any available. Recently my wife escalated to Ford corporate and they haven't been much help either. Couple of thoughts / questions:1) Has anybody else had difficulty recently getting a hybrid battery replacement from Ford?2) I wonder if this has to do with the recent increase in battery power - maybe they just don't have the old batteries any more, and they aren't willing to give us a new one (or maybe it isn't compatible). Any other thoughts / comments would be welcome. Wifey is getting pretty fed up after 103 days in a rental car with no end in sight.

Is your dealer electric certified? A hybrid battery is 1.5 kWh and is for the hybrid version of the car.An Energi battery is 7.6 kWh. The wrong terminology leads me to think the dealer is not electric certified and shouldn't be working on the car.Ford has stated that the battery is supposed to last for the life of the car. Hopefully that doesn't mean that no spares were built. Mine is also a 2013 but I only use it for local driving and have not yet reached 10,000 miles. TampaFusion Posted January 8, 2019 at 12:49 PM Author Report Share Posted January 8, 2019 at 12:49 PM The terminology mistake is mine. I looked up the dealer on the Ford service website and they are certified for electric vehicle repair.
RickEnergi Posted January 8, 2019 at 12:52 PM Report Share Posted January 8, 2019 at 12:52 PM 103 days is very excessive. Unfortunately a 2013 wouldn't likely qualify for lemon law handling in any state, but you should look into it. I assume Ford is paying for the rental (or is the dealer?). I would push hard, mention that you are looking into your options without threatening lemon law or legal action, which will shut down any communication with Ford corporate. TampaFusion Posted January 8, 2019 at 07:49 PM Author Report Share Posted January 8, 2019 at 07:49 PM Well we got a little more info today from corporate. Supposedly the parts manager at the dealership didn't notice that the new battery was on order for so long that the order had "timed out". I don't even know if that's credible, because in other words the part was no longer on order and they were just happily paying for a rental car indefinitely. Supposedly the order was re-entered today and escalated, and we will see what happens next. Sure seems like a crazy way to run a business. The Parts Dept isn't paying for the rental, and there is no report at the dealership that screams "holy crap, this has been going on for too long and costing us a fortune". Poor dealership management. jsamp
68mustangjim Posted June 8, 2019 at 08:56 PM Report Share Posted June 8, 2019 at 08:56 PM (edited) This is probably too little too late was Master Certified Ford parts man up until I left the industry and I was 7 yes a national back order part will time out after I believe 90 days I would assume that it's on emergency order what if there's none to be had there's none to be had I would be curious if you read this you know what the part number is off the repair order myself I would be taking the more direct approach and ask him is this going to be an updated part out of a 2019 or newer. When you get it replace and you post the part number from you work order also what was the defect that give you that warning light.
