Trades46 Posted August 26, 2018 at 08:22 PM Report Share Posted August 26, 2018 at 08:22 PM Hello folks, a very new FFE owner here. Loving the car so far. However one thing that is bugging me so far is despite the car being delivered with a full tank from the dealer (as stated on both the sales list & on the car's fuel gauge), the car & MyFord Mobile is only reporting 500km on the range in hybrid mode. Ford Canada official literature lists the range at 982km, and even if I subtract the ~35 km EV only range and even take 20% off it for conservative sake which stands at ~750km, that 500 km hybrid operating range seems incredibly low. Is there a way to make the car recalculate this range or is my car's GoM seriously out of whack?
ptjones Posted August 26, 2018 at 08:36 PM Report Share Posted August 26, 2018 at 08:36 PM Fill the tank up with premium and see what happens, maybe the tank wasn't filled up on level ground. :headscratch: Paul
jsamp Posted August 27, 2018 at 05:38 PM Report Share Posted August 27, 2018 at 05:38 PM If this is a truly new car, the computer has nothing to in history to estimate what your tank will deliver. It uses past performance as a gauge to estimate future results. Give it a tank or two to get things right. If someone test drove yours, or the few Ford 'break-in' km were done aggressively the computer estimate will be off. ptjones, Davidoo, jdbob and 1 other
PJFW8 Posted August 28, 2018 at 02:50 PM Report Share Posted August 28, 2018 at 02:50 PM On a trip I always was around 600 miles or more. The range estimate should become more accurate in time.
ptjones Posted August 28, 2018 at 04:21 PM Report Share Posted August 28, 2018 at 04:21 PM How many miles do you have on the car now? Paul
PJFW8 Posted August 29, 2018 at 04:02 PM Report Share Posted August 29, 2018 at 04:02 PM I had 40,000 miles when I returned the leased fusion Energi 2 weeks ago. Great car! (I now have a Tesla Model 3).
NorCalTitanium Posted January 24, 2019 at 09:09 AM Report Share Posted January 24, 2019 at 09:09 AM I cannot seem to break the 420 mile mark in my fusion at all, with zero charge strictly hybrid mode. Ive used 87 and 89 gas and noticed actually worse MPGs with 89 weirdly... i also bought this car due to the 600 mile range claims. I know that i am missing my 20 miles from the EV charge, but still 420 miles on hybrid mode averaging 34mpg is NOT GOOD considering how SLOW this car is... Im so angry i made the "smart" decision and bought the fusion instead of the chrysler 300 5.7 i wanted. I was able to average 25mpg in a V8!!!! Yet this POS fusion only gets 25mpg on its 2.0 atkinsons if it wasnt for the electric motor boosting it up to a measly 33-34mpg. I see claims all over the internet of owners saying they easily get 40mpg and 500+ miles per tank....are they driving them in LA traffic all day or something? I drive 75/25 hwy to city...most of my city driving is done at 30-40mph in EV mode...HWY im at about 65-70 at about a 25% ratio of EV mode to gas mode.....the MPG average meter will dip as low as 20 when driving on the freeway at 65mph, that is pathetic for a 4cylinder. murphy Posted January 24, 2019 at 12:54 PM Report Share Posted January 24, 2019 at 12:54 PM You are used to Otto cycle engines. An Atkinson cycle engine is a different beast. It's main job is to generate electricity to run the electric motor. Only in extreme circumstances does the engine drive the wheels directly. RickEnergi Posted January 24, 2019 at 01:08 PM Report Share Posted January 24, 2019 at 01:08 PM We drove over 100 miles each way a few weeks ago. Winter temps, winter gas. Filled up on way home, so go an exact reading for highway driving at 73/74 mph - 36mpg. Exactly what I expect, and I know in the summer it will go up a few. Local driving we get in the low 40s. Seems like your fusion may need a tune-up. Either that or you are a serious lead-foot. In Nov I drove 400 miles each way from NorCal to Disneyland and back. The trip back was Hybrid mode only since I couldn't charge while there. 48MPG with cruise set at 70MPH over a 400 mile trip. I got 50MPG on the way down, but that benefited from some plug-in power used during LA traffic. The meter will occasionally dip to 20ish when climbing a hill or accelerating to pass someone. Just cruising it should be around 40 give or take.
4cylinder Posted February 25, 2019 at 05:18 PM Report Share Posted February 25, 2019 at 05:18 PM Just filled up for the first time in 2019. Range is 870 km on gas and 32 km on EV mode (thanks to the winter). I should see the figures rise to 960+ km for gas and 42+ km for EV in the summer. I do not use freeways for my commute or any regular errands which obviously inflates those numbers somewhat.
