jsamp Posted August 23, 2018 at 05:31 AM Report Share Posted August 23, 2018 at 05:31 AM Yeah, I saw this. It's apparently only 2013-2015 models. Sounds like I get a new EVSE cord. I'm hoping I can finagle a way to keep my old one after they give me the new one. I'd like to make a project out of the old one or see if these guys can convert it for me: evseupgrade.com
murphy Posted August 23, 2018 at 11:12 AM Report Share Posted August 23, 2018 at 11:12 AM I edited your title. Voltage in the USA is 120 volts. I have no idea where this mass belief that it is 110 volts came from. bdginmo, jeff_h and ptjones
mczajka Posted August 23, 2018 at 01:46 PM Report Share Posted August 23, 2018 at 01:46 PM I really didn't use it much, but it will be nice to have a new one.
skyagade Posted August 30, 2018 at 01:12 AM Report Share Posted August 30, 2018 at 01:12 AM Had mine replace about a year ago; plug had melted. New replacement still gets fairly warm and outlet light blinks red often when warn/hot. I guess my replacement was too early to have thermistor? bdginmo Posted August 31, 2018 at 03:15 AM Report Share Posted August 31, 2018 at 03:15 AM I bet it will be really hard to keep the old one. I'd imagine it will be a condition of the recall that the new one is only handed out by turning in the old one. I never had a problem with mine. jsamp Posted August 31, 2018 at 05:28 AM Report Share Posted August 31, 2018 at 05:28 AM I'm pretty sure you're right, but it doesn't hurt to try.
murphy Posted August 31, 2018 at 10:04 AM Report Share Posted August 31, 2018 at 10:04 AM I don't think I have used mine more than 5 times in 5 years. 240 volts is so much faster. It's not a problem for a properly wired outlet.
mczajka Posted January 23, 2019 at 12:41 PM Report Share Posted January 23, 2019 at 12:41 PM Anyone get this yet? Still waiting for them to contact me after getting the notice last year.
murphy Posted January 23, 2019 at 03:33 PM Report Share Posted January 23, 2019 at 03:33 PM The letter said parts available in 1st quarter of 2019. That gives them until March 31 to notify us of a delay.
jsamp Posted January 23, 2019 at 05:50 PM Report Share Posted January 23, 2019 at 05:50 PM Anyone get this yet? Still waiting for them to contact me after getting the notice last year. I was at my dealer late November and asked them about this and they said "Huh?" Didn't even know about it. He looked it up "Oh, yeah here it is" and said parts were not available yet, and I'd get a notice when they were available.
mczajka Posted February 4, 2019 at 08:18 PM Report Share Posted February 4, 2019 at 08:18 PM (edited) My dealer in Waldorf, MD wants to test mine. WTF? Recall says replacement (unless they don't want to replace before parts come in). Do they really want that liability. I haven't used mine for years, but I now have access to a plug in a parking garage (which by the way, I don't want to burn down). I'm assuming they want to test because the parts/service will be decided in the 1st quarter of 2019, which we are almost 1/2 way through. But, I thought they told people to stop using these. I'm assuming the problem will reveal itself when you try to use an extension cord or if your outlet/connection is bad.
