Jasonwithana Posted June 12, 2018 at 12:31 AM Report Share Posted June 12, 2018 at 12:31 AM So as previously discussed it’s too hot in Vegas to use electric mode So I have taken it off of auto mode and switched to ev later mode. Why does the car still use electricity from my ev miles when my usage report says drove 10 miles and 0 electric were used. Yet 8 ev miles left my range lol
muzicman61 Posted June 12, 2018 at 01:25 PM Report Share Posted June 12, 2018 at 01:25 PM I've wondered a similar thing. I've noticed driving around the neighborhood in EV later mode yet the ICE never comes on.

jsamp Posted June 12, 2018 at 03:57 PM Report Share Posted June 12, 2018 at 03:57 PM (edited) So as previously discussed it’s too hot in Vegas to use electric mode So I have taken it off of auto mode and switched to ev later mode. Why does the car still use electricity from my ev miles when my usage report says drove 10 miles and 0 electric were used. Yet 8 ev miles left my range lol I've wondered a similar thing. I've noticed driving around the neighborhood in EV later mode yet the ICE never comes on. EV Later makes the Energi act like the Fusion Hybrid, ie: it will still drive in EV but only for short periods. Typically it will keep the battery within +2/-5% of the set point. So if you start the car with 30% charge on the HV battery, it will vary between 25 and 32%. So when you shut it off, it might be lower than when you started. Why it says "0" electric miles for your trip is a little baffling, since mine tells me how many miles were 'regen' miles which count as electric miles. jasper7821 Posted July 9, 2018 at 08:47 PM Report Share Posted July 9, 2018 at 08:47 PM Here's a photo from my car last week after I got home from work. I think it was 110 degrees outside when I left work and the engine ran 100% of the time all the way home. Didn't even shut off while at stop lights.
