4cylinder Posted May 16, 2018 at 07:17 PM Report Share Posted May 16, 2018 at 07:17 PM (edited) I am not aware of My Ford Mobile supporting any smart watch. https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/feu/en/news/2016/09/08/drivers-can-now-use-a-smartwatch-to-check-that-their-ford-electr.html (I was not aware either until reading this thread) Given the unreliability of the existing app, and the lack of fanfare about this feature, I doubt the smartwatch capability is reliable either. murphy Posted May 16, 2018 at 11:56 PM Report Share Posted May 16, 2018 at 11:56 PM According to the video at that link it is only available in Europe. The app on my Android phone is up to date and there is no mention of this new capability. The video is misleading. The watch connects to the phone via bluetooth which has a 30 foot range. Unless your phone is in your pocket while you are out running it isn't going to work. 4cylinder
cr08 Posted May 17, 2018 at 02:34 AM Report Share Posted May 17, 2018 at 02:34 AM (edited) I can at least say with my C-Max and the Android MFM app, the Android Wear (or Wear OS these days) component works fine and I've never ran into any issues with it. I've used it on my old 1st gen Moto 360 and my current Hauwei Watch 2. Are you sure the Samsung Gear you have is Android Wear based? If Tizen based, that is likely why you are out of luck. Here's also a news article around the time of release of the functionality. Dated Sept 2015: https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2015/09/17/new-ford-smart-watch-apps.html Edited May 17, 2018 at 02:38 AM by cr08

cr08 Posted May 17, 2018 at 02:42 PM Report Share Posted May 17, 2018 at 02:42 PM The Samsung Gear uses the Tizen operating system.Right. I just did some research and seems like Samsung used Android Wear very early on with their first Gear watch but moved it to Tizen and have been using it ever since. So OP is SOL with that device. I also wouldn't hedge any bets on the MFM team writing a brand new app or porting the existing one for Tizen. Seems they are largely in maintenance mode only these days and effort is being put into their Sync Connect/FordPass platforms for newer vehicles.
