Poor Radio Reception

Hello All,

 

2017 FFE.

 

Does anyone else have poor radio reception?

 

Sometimes, I can barely get my local stations, both AM and FM.

 

Curious to hear if anyone else has the same issue and if they were able to resolve it.

Do you have a short, maybe 1' long antenna where the mount is on the roof by the rear glass or is it just a hole?  One of my friends picked up a brand new car and they never put the radio antenna in.

 

If a missing antenna isn't it, it is possible that the plug on the back of the headunit came loose and fell out (but then it isn't likely you'd get radio at all).

 

Try test driving another Fusion and see if the reception is the same.  If it isn't and your car is far worse, drop it at the dealership.  You should still be under warranty.

Update.

 

Went to the dealership today.

 

They re installed the radio software.  No difference.  Still poor reception.

 

Going back.  Its just not right. Something is off.

Have narrowed it down to FM stations only if that helps jog anyone's memory.

Looking at the service manual I think its only one antenna connector that runs on the passenger side of the console all the way up the pillar and into the roof where its punched out to go onto the outside antenna.

My 2010 Fusion AM radio reception developed strong warbling interference which drifted onto different stations on different days. The culprit was the pre-amplifier encased within the shark fin antenna base. I converted to a regular whip antenna about 36 inches long.  Problem fixed!
