Neil Posted December 5, 2017 at 04:37 PM Report Share Posted December 5, 2017 at 04:37 PM My 2013 Fusion Energi Titanium has not communicated with MFM since 11/15. It also no longer sends be a text when is completes charging. I suspect a problem with the modem and it not connecting to the AT&T network. I had the Modem upgrade done a couple of years ago. Does anyone know if a Hard Master Reset may help? I hate to lose all my settings but I really like being able to communicate with the car. murphy Posted December 5, 2017 at 06:04 PM Report Share Posted December 5, 2017 at 06:04 PM Disconnect the negative lead of the 12 volt battery for a couple of minutes to reset the modem. It can also be done by pulling fuse #10 but that is way harder than pulling the battery cable.
jeff_h Posted December 5, 2017 at 10:47 PM Report Share Posted December 5, 2017 at 10:47 PM My wife's car did the same thing in September for unknown reason, it wasn't a big deal until cold weather started and without the ability to set the Go Times it was time for a trip to the dealer. I didn't want to mess with the 12V battery cable as I think that means the system has to re-learn the ICE/system/etc, so I blew it off and figured I'd have the dealer do it if needed. They did the seat belt recall, the old steering bolts recall, and also fixed the remote access and didn't charge anything for it - so I expect they probably just pulled the #10 fuse and that did the trick. Since there was no charge (I had expected the $100 deductible for the ESP claim) I think it must have been something quick and simple. Neil Posted December 7, 2017 at 06:56 PM Author Report Share Posted December 7, 2017 at 06:56 PM Thanks - I'll try pulling the fuse and see if that fixes it.
Neil Posted December 7, 2017 at 09:54 PM Author Report Share Posted December 7, 2017 at 09:54 PM Which Fuse is it? The #10 fuse reads 'PowerPoint 1 - Driver front'. Is that the circuit the modem is on?

Recce93 Posted December 8, 2017 at 04:55 AM Report Share Posted December 8, 2017 at 04:55 AM Since the winter started I have had it stop communicating twice in about a 10 day span. Pulling the negative cable fixed it both times. Been running good for about 1.5 months (winter starts early here) now. I have thought about installing a switch for it because this has happened about half a dozen times now since I have owned the car.

If it is the original it is due for replacement. Low battery voltage, without actually going to zero, can cause intermittent problems with electronics. Neil Posted December 8, 2017 at 04:05 PM Author Report Share Posted December 8, 2017 at 04:05 PM ... Pulling the negative cable fixed it both times....What other things will that reset? - I'd hate to lose my 'Alert List' for Sirius/XM. It's taken a long time to set it up. Neil Posted December 18, 2017 at 03:37 PM Author Report Share Posted December 18, 2017 at 03:37 PM Pulled the #10 fuse (passenger compartment fuse box) and the modem is working fine now. I let it sit for 30 minutes after pulling it, but that was mainly because I was changing the oil too. It's not too hard to get to it, but I hope this isn't a frequent problem. jeff_h
