abwdvm Posted October 15, 2017 at 11:32 PM Report Share Posted October 15, 2017 at 11:32 PM My wife likes the shark fin type antenna v.s. the little whip that is stock. Anyone installed one of these. I see them on Fleabay. I wonder if it will affect the sat radio reception.
muzicman61 Posted October 17, 2017 at 12:24 PM Report Share Posted October 17, 2017 at 12:24 PM I did not realize these are actually an antenna. Thought they were just a cover. I too would be interested to hear more about them and how they work with HD radio and Sirius.
murphy Posted October 17, 2017 at 04:30 PM Report Share Posted October 17, 2017 at 04:30 PM The "stick" part of the antenna is for AM and FM. The satellite antenna is in the base. The shark fin replaces the stick but does not modify satellite reception. The antenna in the shark fin connects to the point that the stick is disconnected from to remove it. looking372 Posted December 2, 2017 at 08:48 PM Report Share Posted December 2, 2017 at 08:48 PM I replaced my antenna after it was hit by my garage door breaking the mount. The easiest alternative, since I couldn't screw a new antenna, was to go with a shark fin. I bought mine from https://shop.visualgarage.com/. Perfect color match and it covered a small dent in the roof around the mount when I hit the door. It's wider than some OEM antennas but it needs to be to cover the mount. It looks quite nice. It's been on since Jan of 2016 and still looks great. Can't tell the card didn't come that way. The only downside is that radio reception suffers on a bit. Not really noticeable on FM but on AM I notice a difference. Maybe it's been improved in almost 2 years?
