jsamp Posted September 12, 2017 at 11:48 PM Report Share Posted September 12, 2017 at 11:48 PM (edited) My Energi has "intelligent access" where you only have the FOB on you and to touch the handle and it unlocks. I was washing the car this weekend, and I had the key FOB in my pocket. As I'm rinsing the car, it keeps trying to unlock over and over again. I realized that standing next to the car with the FOB in my pocket, with my hand on the water pistol (metal) the water was making the connection between me and the door handle and the car thought I was touching the handle! I had to go put the FOB down somewhere else to finish washing the car. Technology is great, until it's not. fconway Posted October 10, 2017 at 02:42 PM Report Share Posted October 10, 2017 at 02:42 PM I've had this exact same issue. stupid door unlocking repeatedly while i washed the car. i assumed it wasn't a really big problem. maybe a little extra wear and tear on the mechanism... muzicman61 Posted January 20, 2018 at 01:27 PM Report Share Posted January 20, 2018 at 01:27 PM I just had a similar incident. I was on a step stool next to my vehicle replacing the light bulb on my garage door opener. I had my hand on the roof of the car and when i touched the light bulb it started doing the same thing.. lock/unlock repeatedly. Took the FOB out of my pocket and it stopped. jsamp Posted January 29, 2018 at 05:45 PM Author Report Share Posted January 29, 2018 at 05:45 PM This morning I was using a pitcher of water to knock the dew off the windows and it tried to register. The lights blinked, but it didn't unlock. And I was holding a plastic pitcher, not touching the water even. I'll have to try it for a longer period of time to see if it will actually unlock, I was just splashing the windows briefly. I would think the plastic pitcher wouldn't be able to complete the circuit, but if it is capacitive sensing, that can be tuned for anything. murphy Posted January 29, 2018 at 06:51 PM Report Share Posted January 29, 2018 at 06:51 PM Apparently you have never washed your car with a garden hose. If the fob is in your pocket and you spray the door handle the car goes nuts.
