New modem fail

Mine worked for a few days after the new modem was installed.  Now the MyFord mobile services and the GO Times don't function.  I Haven't checked the charging profiles so that may not be working as well.  The Dealership is still trying to get an answer from the factory.  Hopefully someone on here will report the solution soon.

I don't think my modem works at all, although when it was first installed it seemed to be able to "remote start" the vehicle.   That was prior to the 2G decommissioning.  Yesterday, I removed the vehicle from MFM and pulled the #10 fuse.  When I added the car back into MFM, the car never received the "initial message", so it leads me to believe the modem is inop.

Ok, I disconnected the battery to have the system reset or reboot, don't know what it is called, but that seems to have fixed the connectivity issue and go times. I don't think this is something we should have to do regularly to keep the cars systems working but we will see how long this 'fix' works. It only took a couple minutes so if you are having an issue, might be worth a quick try. You will need a 10mm wrench to loosen the batt cable.

My new modem went in towards the end of December. Mobile app stopped working, as did the ability to change the charge now/value profiles within the car itself. Also, couldn't set any GO times either. Dropped car off for dealership to look at it Thursday, they conclusion was it needs a new modem again, won't get the car back to Monday maybe. I am curious as to whether or not the modem really doesn't work, or they put an old one in because they didn't pay attention to the letter I took in saying what was supposed to be happening back in December.

On a unrelated note, had the tranny fluid changed as well, it is just a simple flush and fill (the tech thought it was a CV and would cost a LOT of money) and it was a relatively cheap maintenance item.

At 58K, runs like a top, nothing wrong yet other than this modem thing, still getting full range on a charge, the car is a keeper.

Update:  So they installed the incorrect modem in my car TWICE!  In December and then again in March.  When Ford service finally "listened" to me, they ordered the correct modem.  They put the old version (NE...) of the modem in my car twice which is really pathetic.  As mentioned by other posters the ESM should begin with a "T".  MFM is now working perfectly in my 2013.

This is the third time I have lost connectivity with the new 3G modem after having it replaced in January. I believe I have discovered the culprit. When I travel to places with no AT&T coverage, it stops working and I need to pull the fuse to reset it. Pulling that fuse is such a pain. I guess I could pull the battery cable instead but I don't want to reset the other systems and cause some problem there.

Has anyone else noticed that it stops when going into a bad AT&T coverage area?

I had one of the original 2G modems in my C-Max that had a similar problem. We have 3G AT&T here but no 2G. When I traveled someplace with 2G and then came back to no 2G it would get stuck on and drain the 12V battery until it got to 8V or so and then shutdown.

Apparently the 3G has similar issues, Ford being unable to learn from past mistakes....

I live right next to the Canadian border and drive across every few months so there's literally zero AT&T coverage there. However, the car has zero issues switching to Canadian providers (the big ones use the same 3G frequencies as AT&T), and has zero issues switching back to AT&T when I cross back into the US. I have a 2017 though, and I have yet to drive into an area that actually has zero 3G coverage (rather than simply a change of provider).
