PeteSzerszen Posted February 2, 2017 at 12:40 AM Report Share Posted February 2, 2017 at 12:40 AM Hello All, I'm a new member of the forum and owner of a 2015 Energi Titanium in Silver Ingot. Ever since I bought the vehicle, I've noticed at times (not always) that I hear a rattling coming from the left front of the car at 50+ mph. I have narrowed everything else down to it being the charge door being loose and rattling, and to further boost my suspicion, it seems to not always be present and seems to disappear when there is less aerodynamic turbulence in that area (such as driving to the right of a truck). Has anyone else had this issue? Being that the car is obvious very quiet in EV mode, it's very annoying since it's the only rattle or noise this car makes. I haven't taken it up with my dealership yet because I don't want to be known as the guy who complains about a noise that they surely won't be able to replicate because that's just Murphy's Law. It does seem to be rather loose when it closes and there certainly does seem to be enough gap for wind to get in there. There does not seem to be a way to adjust it. I'd be curious if anyone else has such a rattle and if there has been any success in resolving it either through the dealer or perhaps using some sort of product to keep it more secure. Kindest regards, Pete
murphy Posted February 2, 2017 at 10:30 AM Report Share Posted February 2, 2017 at 10:30 AM The only problem I have had with the charge port is light segment two burned out. The whole port was replaced under warranty. Has the door ever been closed improperly? That can damage the door. The proper way to close the door is by pushing on the indented area of the door. Manually rotating the door can cause damage.
rbort Posted February 2, 2017 at 03:02 PM Report Share Posted February 2, 2017 at 03:02 PM First things first, to confirm put some tape over the charge door so it can't move at all or rattle and drive and see if the noise is gone. -=>Raja.
