Iflyasa Posted January 17, 2017 at 06:24 PM Report Share Posted January 17, 2017 at 06:24 PM (edited) I was looking to go 240v. I saw several on eBay for around $270. Has anyone had any experience with these? Edited January 17, 2017 at 06:24 PM by Iflyasa

Has anyone had any experience with these? Not sure what charger you were looking at on ebay. One of the more popular charges mentioned on this board are from Clippercreek https://www.clippercreek.com/ I personally own a Bosch that I am very happy with. https://www.boschevsolutions.com/charging-stations/power-maxbut it was more than the $270 you were looking at. meyersnole Posted January 17, 2017 at 08:03 PM Report Share Posted January 17, 2017 at 08:03 PM I think I found that model on amazon with some reviews... https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B018A6QK7C?psc=1 The similar clippercreek model is about $100 more, but has received a lot of praise on this board. jeff_h Posted January 17, 2017 at 10:43 PM Report Share Posted January 17, 2017 at 10:43 PM I saw one bad comment on the Volt forum about that cheap model, someone bought one and it didn't last long -- that may have just been a bad one, or may have been an indication of "getting what you pay for", I fear it may be the latter. I have a Leviton 30A that has been used every day since 2013 (was $899 back then, see how prices have dropped), Clipper Creek LCS-25 (at in-laws in the next county) that gets used every weekend since 2014, and Clipper Creek LCS-20 that has been used every day since 2015, all still working fine and through reading hundreds (maybe thousands?) of posts on various forums about EVSE I don't recall a post about a Clipper Creek going kaput in a short amount of time. So that would be my choice, to go to the Clipper Creek site and get an LCS-20 for $370.
meyersnole Posted January 18, 2017 at 03:36 AM Report Share Posted January 18, 2017 at 03:36 AM The other thing to weigh, is if this your gateway car and maybe you might want to invest in a 30A or 40A charger to allow for faster charging of a future vehicle. My charger is a 30A, but will charge no quicker than a 16A because of the onboard charger of the Fusion. However, if I decide I want a Nissan Leaf, Chevy Volt, etc that can charge at a higher rate I am set and don't have more equipment to buy or more wiring that needs to be run. I still need to run the 240v line into my garage. I'll keep you posted on how it comes along.
