openair Posted November 7, 2016 at 04:26 PM Report Share Posted November 7, 2016 at 04:26 PM (edited) Had my brakes serviced on Friday. Now there is a clicking sound at the gear shift when the brake pedal is pushed and the brake booster noise is gone completely. Going to have to either convince the dealer to pay for a rental so i dont drive with malfunctioning brakes or take time off work or wait until Friday. Safe to drive without the brake booster? rbort Posted November 13, 2016 at 04:27 AM Report Share Posted November 13, 2016 at 04:27 AM The booster usually makes the brake pedal easy to operate. In old automatic cars if you didn't start the engine after 3 pushes on the brake you have to push really hard to make it stop the car. Is this what you're experiencing? -=>Raja. My14Energi Posted November 14, 2016 at 04:19 AM Report Share Posted November 14, 2016 at 04:19 AM (edited) The clicking you're hearing at the gear shift is normal, its the park "lock out" mechanism that only lets you shift out of park when you press the brake. For some reason i find it more noticable at times and other times you dont really hear it. But all new cars have that safety feature. The pisser about this car is if it goes dead from a bad battery you have to take apart the center console to manually disengage that switch if you have to move the car or have it towed. Btw....what the hell is a brake booster sound anyway? Edited November 14, 2016 at 04:20 AM by My14Energi
