ClaveMan Posted November 2, 2016 at 04:22 AM Report Share Posted November 2, 2016 at 04:22 AM Just some observations.. I log onto all 12 Ford Dealers web sites in St. Louis. Not one has a 2017 Ford Fusion Energi in Stock. One dealer has two "extended inventory" Fusion Energi models. Those Energi's could be in Honolulu (This is where the mole comes in..)Hearing stories in this forum like "I put down $$ on a new Fusion Energi in Denver but someone else got to it first (Whac-a-moled). Same deal when I paid down $$ on one in San Diego -- gone a few hours later.Tell me where I am wrong.. To get a 2017 Ford Fusion Energi Platinum I will need to either:Obtain several distant dealer sales people, in different cities watching for Fusion Energi Platinum models "popping" up from dealerships in unknown parts. Then a salesman can "Whac em" for me.Go down to my local ford dealer and order one. (Attempts to push me into other configurations) are laughed off.I am not ready today. Just trying to plan when I am ready. Hey it's Black Friday $1000 cash day (all month I assume). Thanks :noobie:
jeff_h Posted November 2, 2016 at 11:19 AM Report Share Posted November 2, 2016 at 11:19 AM Wow you sure are right... I just went to the Ford site and did a search dealer inventory of within 100 miles of a St Louis zip code = 4 matches. I then used a local zip code for the DC area within 100 miles = 100+ matches. So I then went to cars.com and it shows 28 within 10 miles and 223 within 100 miles. I can't believe a dealer brushes you off when as a paying customer you walk in and ask to place an order - that's the easiest customer of all, they just input the order and about 10 weeks later they do PDI and process the purchase and watch a happy customer drive away. That's nuts to ignore that, but then again I don't sell cars. If you really want one you can fly over here and get the one you want and drive home, I've done several out-of-state purchases over the years, it's always been worth it to me and I like road trips... ClaveMan Posted November 2, 2016 at 12:25 PM Author Report Share Posted November 2, 2016 at 12:25 PM Wow you sure are right... Those 4 "St. Louis matches" were actually on the lot? I saw 2 listed as "New Inventory" at 1 local dealer, but the second inspection implied they were "distant" vehicles a salesman had apparently pre-located from somewhere else (hoping I would call). I will give another try to the 100 mile radius search. Finding 3 is better than 0. I must have done something wrong. jeff_h
ClaveMan Posted December 11, 2016 at 04:18 AM Author Report Share Posted December 11, 2016 at 04:18 AM I give up. I go to Ford.com and build & price a FFE Platinum. I do 100 mile radius searches with St. Louis as epicenter. I find:0 in Missouri1 in Indianapolis (on lot since June!)1 in Lexington (on lot since September)2 in Chicago metro (0 in Dallas, Memphis, OKC, Cincinnati5 in Detroit28 in San Francisco :)What a buyer's market! Ford is offering $2500 "Smart Bonus Tag" incentives and low financing through New Years. Half of these FFE platinums have been on the lot for 3 - 9 months.Year over year Ford EV sales through Sep 2016 are down 20% (IRS IRC 300 Report) $4,007 Federal Tax Credit (as of 11/26/2016 (per IRS 30D) So I am engaging a "auto buying conceirge" in LA to do a deal and hopefully put a new FFE Platinum in my St. Louis driveway. We'll see what happens soon. jeff_h
shaggy314 Posted December 20, 2016 at 07:30 AM Report Share Posted December 20, 2016 at 07:30 AM See my tag below. For a car this expensive, pick a config and get several dealers to price it and order. You get exactly what you want and dealers get to fight for your business. A larger dealer should have a shorter order to delivery time, but it's based on sales so maybe find one that sells a lot of EVs (which won't be easy).
