Davefrompa Posted July 31, 2016 at 02:26 AM Report Share Posted July 31, 2016 at 02:26 AM I have a 2016 fusion energi titanium. 12,200 miles. On Monday 7-25-16 I was accelerating on an on ramp to the freeway when I felt a sudden decrease in power and three lights in the instrument cluster illuminate. The Wrench, ESC off, and Traction Control lit up. Two error messages displayed in the far left screen "Service advancetrac" and "see manual." When I came to a complete stop at the first exit another message came on "hill assist not available." I called my dealer and told them what is going on. Drove it directly there ~5 minutes away under what seemed to be reduced power. Turned it off and walked in. Went to move it into the right spot a few minutes later and all the lights were gone so I said nevermind to looking at it and drove home. Thursday 7-28-16 I was again on the freeway when the same situation happened. Noticeable sudden power decrease, same three lights and messages. I pulled over and turned the car off. Waited 30 seconds and restarted to now having a check engine light and the other three lights on. Turned it off again and waited 2 minutes. Back on and only a check engine light. Called the dealer for a same day drop off and drove it to my destination, parked it for 2 hours and then drove it back to the dealer. Check engine light was still on. Dealer has had it since Thursday afternoon and found the faults from the check engine light and did some drive cycle of 39 miles to try and replicate the other issues. They called and I explained that between Monday and Thursday I drove about 200 miles. I believe they are going to keep driving it to try and replicate my problem but haven't figured it out yet. Sorry for the long post. Any ideas as to what this could be? I think a similar problem was experienced in the ~2012-2013 cars?
jeff_h Posted July 31, 2016 at 11:44 AM Report Share Posted July 31, 2016 at 11:44 AM Sorry to hear about your issues - I read about similar stories on a couple 2013 Energis (first year was 2013), symptoms were not exactly the same but one I remember had an exposed part of a wire that got corroded and caused a bunch of lights to come on like a Christmas tree. I think the other one was a loose connector that was causing one module to lose contact with another one and again causing various faults. Hopefully your dealer can find any stored error codes and work with the Ford Hotline (where the dealers call for tech assistance) to get it figured out. But if they give it back and it occurs again, it may be a good idea to 1) run a vehicle health report immediately, and 2) go straight to the dealer if possible and don't shut it off and maybe they can plug in their diagnostic tool while those lights are illuminated. Davefrompa Posted August 1, 2016 at 08:20 PM Author Report Share Posted August 1, 2016 at 08:20 PM Got a call from the dealer today. It may be the throttle body or throttle body sensor. They are waiting for the part and will keep the case open after they release it to me later this week. They are doing this so if the issues happens again, I can drive it in while the lights are on and they can check it.
Davefrompa Posted August 3, 2016 at 06:56 PM Author Report Share Posted August 3, 2016 at 06:56 PM 17 separate error codes were retrieved from the car. The dealer cleared them and test drove it. They figure that the Electronic Throttle Body was the culprit of my issues. It was changed and they drove it again for a while with no issues. I picked up the car this morning and will update if any issues arise again. Timewellspent and jeff_h
matt100156 Posted April 10, 2020 at 06:09 PM Report Share Posted April 10, 2020 at 06:09 PM I'm having the same issue with mine as well, did the was the throttle body or throttle body sensor fix the issue?
Davefrompa Posted April 11, 2020 at 05:54 PM Author Report Share Posted April 11, 2020 at 05:54 PM I had that car for 56,000 miles total. Never did that issue arise again after this last post. I would presume the throttle body itself and/or the sensor on it was the issue. matt100156
