timmiles Posted July 15, 2016 at 05:57 PM Report Share Posted July 15, 2016 at 05:57 PM Hello all,I was hoping to find out if this is a fault with my car, or a known fault across the line of cars. I have a faulty external temperature gauge read out. It sits at 50 degrees. This happened about 4 weeks ago and ford replaced the sensor. It has since worked but once again stopped working. It seems to sometimes read correctly and then randomly change with no warning. Currently it is stuck on the incorrect temperature. It was the same pattern before having it changed but it seems to new part is doing the same thing. Any advice on this? It is a shame as I love the car but had so many problems, I am tempted to ask ford for a replacement vehicle. Thank you :)
murphy Posted July 15, 2016 at 06:12 PM Report Share Posted July 15, 2016 at 06:12 PM It has been reported either on this forum or the Hybrid forum that the problem is with the connector for the sensor. Going from my old memory, the connector is not properly sealed against water and the contacts corrode. jeff_h
timmiles Posted July 15, 2016 at 07:36 PM Author Report Share Posted July 15, 2016 at 07:36 PM Wonderful, thank you for the response. It was only 3 weeks ago on June 22nd they replaced the sensor and it has worked fine since, until today. I live in Los Angeles and it hasn't rained here in weeks, I'm concerned that it could have corroded that quickly.
