Why does power/engine cut off after 30 minutes in place??!!

So we travel with our professionally trained German Shepherd, and he is perfectly happy to stay in the back of the cool Fusion Energi set to 66 degrees whilst we go in a restaurant for lunch.  

 

I leave the Energi on, ready to drive, but of course in Park, leave the keys inside the Energi, and use the numeric post on the outside pillar driver's side to lock the car.  PROBLEM IS, the Energi cuts off just about at 30 minutes, doesn't matter how much battery reserve there is, and I have to go out and restart it.  

 

1.  Is there a way to over-ride that 30 minute timer?  

2.  Do I have the time right, is it 30 minutes or something else?

 

Our 2016 Impala LTZ 2 will idle indefinitely as would our previous Ford Crown Vic.

That's for your protection in case you accidently forget to turn the car off when you park it in the garage.  You don't want the ICE to start in the garage after the battery is exhausted and have everyone inside the house be exposed to possible CO poisoning.

Yes.

If your vehicle is equipped with the Intelligent Access with Push Button Start feature, you can temporarily disable the Automatic Engine Idle Shutdown (AEIS) component. To disable this feature, use your steering wheel controls to navigate to the Settings menu on your left-hand Instrument Cluster LCD display. From there, select Vehicle >Auto Engine Off >Off. The next time you start your vehicle, the AEIS will automatically reset to "On."

A permanent solution to this is needed.  Lots of people work from their vehicles and don't want to drain their 12v battery to do so.  First Responders, Realtors, Insurance agents, homes inspectors.  I recently started working from mine when the house was too noisy.  And in the past I've used it as a secure, climate controlled place to take controlled rest.

 

I'm an adult.  I don't need someone to protect me from CO.  I need a vehicle that does what i say when I say it, and nothing when I don't.  If the engine stops it better be because it's out of fuel, or the hybrid battery is topped up and ICE is not needed.  If I want to kill myself, one of my guns would have a smaller carbon footprint.

 

I've slept in the back of a Prius before to avoid covid-contact on road trips.  Just set the climate control and crawl back there.  It keeps the interior fine all night and I'd expect the Fusion to as well.  On one leg, the car was 'Ready' (Toyota's word for ignition on) for over 1500 miles.  Started in one timezone and powered down two timezones and a couple days later.  Refueled while running.  At end of each day just shifted to park, checked doors were locked and climate set.  Then in the morning just got back in the drivers seat and shifted to Drive.  It worked fine.  Even watched some TV before bed using the bluetooth connection for surround sound.

 

I'm need to learn Forscan once the warranty is up and hack this badboy to stay running until I say otherwise.

remove ammunition for dealer to void warranty
