Ford CEO Confirms 200+ mile BEV

Besides a BEV with 200+ mile range, Ford will introduce a total of 13 new electrified models within 3 years and expects 40% of it's models to be electrified within that timeframe.

With its massive investment in EVs, is Ford risking being overly committed to electrified vehicles?

Will Ford be able to make money in an area where others have lost significant sums?

Hard to tell if the tune really changed.

If I am reading these right... near term plans... stay near 100 mile range on Focus, continue with PHEV C-Max & Fusion.

Longer term (2019) remove the BEV platform from Focus and retire the C-Max, enter Ford - E with at least 200 mile range (in development).

At least that is the way I have been reading the comments.

Yea, I don't think the tune didn't change at all.  The only thing that changed is they finally confirmed the rumors that have been circulating for well over a year.  Most companies don't reveal their plans too early for competitive reasons.

Given what's already leaked out about the design, and the foreshadowing of the name, it's possible the Model E will do for electrified mobility for the "common man" what the Model T did for mobility a century ago.
