TOU is of no use to me, since my kids are home during the summer and use the AC. And electricity rates are going up.Yes, my electricty rates are about the same. Like you, my situation means the utility comes out the winner if I change to their TOU plan. Gas needs to be over $4 a gallon to make electricity the cheaper option. I want a Tesla X to replace my Expedition, but the price is way out of my range. I'd love a Tesla S to replace my Energi, but again at 100k, that's way too far out of my price range. Me too! I have about 1.75 years left on my Fusion Energi lease, and about 2 on the Edge. I'll hopefully replace at least one of them with a Tesla, be it a new Model 3 or a used Model S. I don't think there'll be many Model X's on the used market by then. If there were an "Edge Energi" it'd get strong consideration from me... OTOH, I may just grab a used Leaf or i3 as a commuter until Teslas can be had for less money. The hybrid/electric crossover market is moving disappointingly slow. The Volvo XC90 T8 just started shipping in the US in August, and the Mitsubishi Outlander has been delayed yet again and had its DCFC port removed. :( The Tesla Model X just started shipping in September and is likely to remain in high demand and out of the reasonable price range for several years. We've been quite happy with ours. The Focus Electric has almost as much power as the i3, and way more power than the Leaf. I have not liked the Leaf when I've driven it. The Leaf also has poor crash test scores. Plus the Focus Electric will include Go Times & Value Charging, features that are not as well implemented on the i3 or Leaf. You can also remote start the Focus Electric to run climate control, something not available on most other EVs not made by Tesla. If you're anywhere near Havill-Spoerl Ford in Fort Atkinson, WI I would talk to them. They sell the most Focus Electrics in the entire region and basically take all the Focus Electric allocation away from all the Chicago dealers since they sell so many. They have one mechanic who has taken apart the HVB in the Focus Electric & it seems like they do a really good job. They end up selling Focus Electrics all over the country since they will order them & sell them at a fair price. I do need to go longer distances occasionally, and there are some free L3 stations in reasonably convenient places to allow for me to do that. I can't believe it's not even an option. :(I have heard good things about Havill-Spoerl Ford. They're about 45 min to an hour from me, but I may take my Energi there as well if some of the little niggles I have aren't fixed by my local dealer. In the used market, Honda Motorwerks in La Crosse is also known for selling a lot of electrical/alternative fuel vehicles. So yeah... If it had DCFC, I'd be all over a Focus Electric. Along with the increased efficiency/range/MPG, SYNC 3, free Apple Car Play/ Android Auto etc, the 2017 is also now $2,000 less expensive than previously advertised, at least where I live. The 2017 FFE comes with an "Energi discount" that takes $2,000 off the price. On top of that, there is currently a $500 rebate in my area.
