kzoojason76 Posted December 10, 2015 at 02:28 PM Report Share Posted December 10, 2015 at 02:28 PM Clipped my driver's side mirror backing out of the garage. Cracked the black plastic trim around the mirror. Cover is fine, and mirror glass is fine. Just the the black trim has a piece broken off. Went to the dealership to see about getting it replaced. They won't sell me just the single part. They said they would have to sell me the entire side mirror assembly for a price of $600. NO WAY!!! What a scam. Pay $600 to replace just a $10 part. Any Ford Customer Service Reps want to help me out on this one?? Thanks,- Jason
Russael Posted December 10, 2015 at 04:47 PM Report Share Posted December 10, 2015 at 04:47 PM I checked Fordparts to see how that mirror assembly is sold. The mirrors are 6 pieces - glass, turn signal, back cover, mirror motor, puddle lamp, and finally the entire mirror assembly... which contains that black trim. About your only solution will be to find a knockoff assembly like on Ebay or possibly Amazon, but those are still going to be expensive. kzoojason76 and Hybridbear
kzoojason76 Posted December 11, 2015 at 01:38 AM Author Report Share Posted December 11, 2015 at 01:38 AM (edited) Thanks for looking! I found the exact part # on eBay, however the color is black and not Deep Impact Blue. I could probably get a body shop to paint it to match. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Genuine-Ford-DS7Z-17683-DAPTM-DS7Z17683DAPTM-Mirror-/181639373872 Edited December 11, 2015 at 01:39 AM by kzoojason76
meyersnole Posted December 11, 2015 at 08:37 PM Report Share Posted December 11, 2015 at 08:37 PM Another option would possibly be a salvaged part. Russael
kzoojason76 Posted December 13, 2015 at 01:09 PM Author Report Share Posted December 13, 2015 at 01:09 PM I thought about that too. It looks like that black trim isn't just "black trim". From exploded parts views, it looks to be the entire inside of the mirror assembly. Speaking with the parts dept at the dealer, it would be very hard to take all the parts out and replace the entire internal piece without damaging any of the parts. I'm sure it could be done, but once you damage one part, you're probably better off just replacing the whole thing.
