howardbc Posted October 19, 2015 at 10:32 PM Report Share Posted October 19, 2015 at 10:32 PM Hi. I have a 2013 FFE Titanium. I seldom use the navigation system but am curious if there is an easy way to see what elevation the car is at while the car is moving. My battery range is killed when I'm heading home because my house is at about 2400' above sea level. I wanted to try different routes to see if maybe one might be better than another at staying fairly level. I know the last mile before my house is straight up a hill so I'm stuck with that, but I would like to see if maybe there is a better route before I get to that last mile. On the other hand, I get great mileage when leaving my house and headed away from home because it's all downhill. I always have more miles showing on the battery after 10 miles than when I pulled out of my garage. (I know the miles showing on the battery icon is a very vague guideline.) Thanks. flyingcheesehead Posted October 19, 2015 at 11:11 PM Report Share Posted October 19, 2015 at 11:11 PM I don't think it does, but if you have an iPhone, there are some apps that will do this. Many will use the GPS to determine your elevation, but newer iPhones (6/6+/6s/6s+) also have a barometric altitude sensor. Either one should give you a good idea. Check the app store. howardbc Posted October 20, 2015 at 12:26 AM Author Report Share Posted October 20, 2015 at 12:26 AM Thanks, flyingcheesehead. I have an Android phone (Samsung Note 3) and I know I've seen apps for the elevation in the Play Store. I was hoping the Navigation screen might show the elevation so as to have one less screen to look at. But I thank you.

stevedebi Posted October 21, 2015 at 11:27 PM Report Share Posted October 21, 2015 at 11:27 PM As others have noted, you can put the MFT into a diagnostic mode, but you will lose MFT functionality while you do so. Also, the GPS data is not smoothed at all - it is raw numbers. But you could be a pretty fair idea of the elevation.
Hybridbear Posted October 22, 2015 at 02:45 PM Report Share Posted October 22, 2015 at 02:45 PM I resurrected the thread on the FFH Forum linked above to see if this data was removed from cars without Nav via the 3.8 update, as our IVT rep said it would be. A number of members have posted about cell phone apps that will show elevation. That may be helpful.
