larryh Posted March 24, 2015 at 12:31 PM Report Share Posted March 24, 2015 at 12:31 PM This is the next advancement after lane keeping. My only question is who gets the speeding ticket when there is no one in the drivers seat? https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=zY_zqEmKV1k&t=1m11s Doug0716
Hybridbear Posted March 24, 2015 at 02:06 PM Report Share Posted March 24, 2015 at 02:06 PM (edited) Tesla has something similar coming out soon. Tesla claims they drove a Model S from the Bay Area to Seattle almost without touching the steering wheel. Hyundai has featured how the Genesis can more or less drive itself as well. bwheetley Posted March 27, 2015 at 12:58 AM Report Share Posted March 27, 2015 at 12:58 AM Before I had my Fusion I had an 2012 Infiniti M35 Hybrid. It had the smart cruise, collision avoidance, and lane departure warning and assist. They were very impressive features and worked very well, but I don't think I'd climb out of the drivers seat and let it drive itself like that. They are advanced, but not designed to do everything autonomously... Yet.

murphy Posted April 14, 2015 at 11:56 PM Report Share Posted April 14, 2015 at 11:56 PM Note that the video is a simulation (photoshop for movies) of how they think it should work. The car is an early Tesla that doesn't have the sensor hardware required for autopilot let alone autonomous driving. Rexracer
