thinkcooper Posted February 12, 2015 at 05:29 PM Report Share Posted February 12, 2015 at 05:29 PM Here's a screen cap from my iPad of yesterday's commute data from my three week old 2015 Fusion Energi. I bought the car specifically to commute via HOV for a new job at the camera technology company Lytro. Started the job this week, so I'm just getting used to the 39 mile trek each way. Both going to and returning from use the same route (Hwy 1>17>85), but there's a slight variation in mileage, not sure why on that. I drive mostly in Auto mode - except when ascending the summit on 17 (about 2000' accumlated of climbing to the summit). For the climb I switch to EV Later mode, and switch back to Auto for the descent and the rest of the commute. Interesting point though is how many more watts are used in the morning with similar braking efficiency for power recovery. Pretty sure that's due to using the heater and defroster to counter the AM chill. Today I wore a sweater to minimize use of the heater, and ended up with about 6 miles of range left on the battery once I got to the office. I'll keep updating this adventure. Hybridbear Posted February 15, 2015 at 05:46 PM Report Share Posted February 15, 2015 at 05:46 PM Very neat. Do you have 120V or 240V charging at work? What about at home? Preconditioning with a Go Time can help you to use less electricity for heat while driving. You will likely also find with time that you can maximize your use of EV Now & EV Later to use up all of your HVB charge before getting to work while also minimizing your gas use. We almost never use EV Auto. However, this is because it's currently winter and EV Auto allows the ICE to turn on in more situations than EV Now. When we did our road trip to California we mostly switched between EV Auto & EV Later while on the freeway as appropriate. I would have used EV Now, except for the fact that switching to EV Now causes the left dash screen to change displays which I hate.
Fat Fusion Posted February 18, 2015 at 12:09 PM Report Share Posted February 18, 2015 at 12:09 PM Just press the UP button on the left side of the steering wheel to cycle through the views after hitting EV NOW.

I set-up Go Times to pre-heat, but for some reason it didn't sync to the car. Need to be sure I'm doing it right.

Hybridbear Posted February 18, 2015 at 10:06 PM Report Share Posted February 18, 2015 at 10:06 PM Just press the UP button on the left side of the steering wheel to cycle through the views after hitting EV NOW.I do that. I just find it annoying that switching to EV Now changes my screen. I like the Empower screen as my base screen in all modes and don't like it being interfered with. I'm using 110 at home for now, and a ChargePoint at work that my office subsidizes. I set-up Go Times to pre-heat, but for some reason it didn't sync to the car. Need to be sure I'm doing it right.Sometimes if you add Go Times via the cell phone app and then close the app before it updates to say that the Go Time was synced it's possible that it won't sync. Also, Go Times won't preheat the car on 120 V, there's not enough power available. You can check the ChargePoint app on your phone to view your charging session to see if the car is still able to pull power for preheating. Could the ChargePoint session possibly be turning off once your car stops requesting power where the station won't allow the car to draw power to preheat? The GO time sync took hold yesterday. Very neat to get in and find the temp at 72 and all the Santa Cruz mist gone from the windshield. thinkcooper Posted February 20, 2015 at 12:44 AM Author Report Share Posted February 20, 2015 at 12:44 AM My commute ends in Mountain View at a company called Lytro. We make a camera that captures light, color and depth to produce what we call Living Pictures. I tried embedding the media in a post to share here but it only works in the Post Editing pane, and doesn't show up in the actual post. Bummer. Reason for the bummer? I have a gallery of some Living Pictures I shot of my 2015 Energi's interior. Here's that gallery if you want to check it out. You can refocus the image on various areas by clicking. Or you can click and drag to shift perspective on the image. Enjoy. https://pictures.lytro.com/thinkcooper/albums/176125 tangozulu, Hybridbear and Rexracer

If you ever need product testers I always am playing with cameras. That's what everyone tells me with my job (hunting scope company). ;-)

lonzo71 Posted March 16, 2015 at 05:14 PM Report Share Posted March 16, 2015 at 05:14 PM I've heard of Lytro when they started up. Very cool cams and nope, dont own one. Maybe when the price comes down...or when Apple buys them out ;)
