openair Posted January 12, 2015 at 07:40 PM Report Share Posted January 12, 2015 at 07:40 PM At least two dealers here in Canada are convinced the Energi can come in optional all wheel drive. They get annoyed when I question the existence of an energi AWD. Ford.ca doesn't let me build an energi in AWD. Does the Energi come in optional AWD? Russael Posted January 12, 2015 at 07:58 PM Report Share Posted January 12, 2015 at 07:58 PM Nope. If it did, I would've had that since I live in a northern climate (not as far north as you though). Only the 2.0L Ecoboost powertrain has the optional AWD... and apparently only on the Titanium trim now too... from Ford's website: All-Wheel Drive Optional (Requires 2.0L EcoBoost® engine with Titanium gas models only)
openair Posted January 12, 2015 at 09:56 PM Author Report Share Posted January 12, 2015 at 09:56 PM Yea, I tried to tell them that. They get annoyed and tell me well yours is FWD so it doesn't matter anyway. Really instills confidence. If their pricing and parts databases include a model of fusion energi that doesn't even exist, what other incorrect data is in these databases? Russael Posted January 12, 2015 at 11:50 PM Report Share Posted January 12, 2015 at 11:50 PM Maybe they're thinking of a 2016 option or maybe they confused it with traction control. AWD, as far as I know, was always exclusive to the 2.0. The Escape has optional 4WD with both their 1.6L and 2.0 models. If weather here gets very bad, my Expo has 4WD that I rarely use. It's near impossible to get that thing stuck. It also has a limited slip rear axle to boot.
openair Posted January 13, 2015 at 12:18 AM Author Report Share Posted January 13, 2015 at 12:18 AM (edited) I had them double and triple check as much as I could get them too. They stated there was a price difference between FWD and AWD. I asked if that's the case, is there a price difference between hybrid and Energi? They went to check they had the right option. They specifically state they have two options listed for 2014 Fusion Energi. FWD and AWD. And that is the story at two different dealerships in the two different cities here in Ontario Canada. If there was confusion, it was likely during the entry of this data into the database. Unless it is just a flag available for all vehicles in their software. If yes add 'x.' Hybridbear Posted January 14, 2015 at 06:02 PM Report Share Posted January 14, 2015 at 06:02 PM Can you get them to send you a screen shot or can you view their info? They might not be competent enough to pick Energi versus gas Fusion.
lonzo71 Posted January 14, 2015 at 06:20 PM Report Share Posted January 14, 2015 at 06:20 PM AWD Fusion Energi.....I would have gotten one...
Timewellspent Posted January 14, 2015 at 09:16 PM Report Share Posted January 14, 2015 at 09:16 PM (edited) We talked with our dealer about the AWD. He stated it isn't availble in the Energi or Hybrid as the engines wouldn't be able to handle.it. For the AWD you need the EcoBoost engine. openair Posted January 14, 2015 at 09:57 PM Author Report Share Posted January 14, 2015 at 09:57 PM Can you get them to send you a screen shot or can you view their info? They might not be competent enough to pick Energi versus gas Fusion.I doubt it. They got annoyed with the few questions I did ask. That is my concern as well. And why I asked them about hybrid vs energi. In the hopes they may catch a mistake. I'm also concerned they were confusing energi and titanium. I mentioned this in my pm to fordserviceca. Hopefully they can figure it out. Imo it's an issue with a database ford dealers here in Ontario Canada are using. Which might also explain them going through three tire sizes before finding the correct one.

He stated it isn't availble in the Energi or Hybrid as the engines wouldn't be able to handle.it.That isn't really true. The ICE could handle it just fine. It's simply a design issue. Hybrids/EVs are actually more disposed to AWD because they could do like the Outlander PHEV and have an ICE & electric motor on the front axle and another electric motor on the rear axle. However, this is much more expensive to build that the FWD system in our cars.
openair Posted January 23, 2015 at 07:48 PM Author Report Share Posted January 23, 2015 at 07:48 PM (edited) I got to speak to a fordserviceca rep yesterday. They confirmed the option for AWD exists in their extended service plan pricing and do not know why it is there.
