Hybridbear Posted December 16, 2014 at 02:01 PM Report Share Posted December 16, 2014 at 02:01 PM Our AT&T cell phones automatically switch over to another network when we cross into Canada. Will MFM continue to work in Canada? Will the Energi continue to transmit & receive data from the Ford servers? I know Ford must have a way that it works because they sell the Energi in Canada. Has anyone driven their USA Energi to Canada and been able to use MFM to set Go Times, etc?
rbort Posted December 17, 2014 at 04:10 AM Report Share Posted December 17, 2014 at 04:10 AM I did, I drove to New Brunswick, Canada in August. Spent about 5 days there drove from Drummond to the Quebec border past Edmundston for 3 days in a row to go to an event there. I am pretty sure I checked MFM daily to see my trip results, I don't remember not having it work there. I had my laptop and used my friend's internet service at home to get in. -=>Raja. rbort Posted December 17, 2014 at 03:58 PM Report Share Posted December 17, 2014 at 03:58 PM (edited) Oh yeah, by the way, you guys will like this. My buddy drove from his house to the airport where we went as well (I followed him). It was 6 one hour trips, 3 days round trip. I charged my car fully at his house and then charged the car fully at the airfield both ends. The trip was close to 57 miles each way. I used the country road at 40-45mph to use up the EV battery before getting on the Trans Canada highway for better mpg performance (he went on the highway asap) By the end of the weekend he burned up all his gas tank in his SUV doing this, and, I still had enough gas to make it back to the US :), Houlton, Maine for cheaper gas prices than Canada. https://maps.google.com/maps?cid=7300069800480231266&q=Drummond,+NB,+Canada&output=classic&dg=ntvo -=>Raja. I'm not sure of the answer off hand, but I'll look into this and let you know what I find out. :) Kim Hybridbear

I wonder if in areas that it doesn't have any signal the car would also have no signal. My wife is in Canada right now with the Energi and when I checked about half an hour ago it successfully updated showing that she was across the border but since then it has said "update failed". Perhaps when she gets to a populated area it will work again... Since her cell phone doesn't work in Canada without incurring expensive charges we figured that I could periodically check on the Energi to see if/when she arrived safely. Just like the behavior of your mobile phone, when it comes to coverage, your Fusion Energi will also function seamlessly in Canada when you cross the border. The data plan for your vehicle allows for connectivity in all of North America (as long as there is a cellular signal).
