cegarbage Posted December 14, 2014 at 06:11 PM Report Share Posted December 14, 2014 at 06:11 PM I filled up my car for the first time. The tank represented all of "trip 1". According to trip 1, I was 123.2 MPG. But when I divide the miles by the gallons, it comes to 115.7. Is it normal to have a delta? If so, why? Hybridbear Posted December 14, 2014 at 07:14 PM Report Share Posted December 14, 2014 at 07:14 PM The gallons measured by the car and the gallons pumped aren't equal.
jeff_h Posted December 14, 2014 at 08:47 PM Report Share Posted December 14, 2014 at 08:47 PM Yep display is normally a bit optimistic, same as with my two FFHs before the Energi, and also with the Prius before that.

If so, why?On my first fill up, I realized that the dealer didn't fill it up all the way. When full, mine goes above the full line. I got mine with the guage right at the full line. That is probably part of it.
Rhynri Posted January 12, 2015 at 04:23 PM Report Share Posted January 12, 2015 at 04:23 PM My VWs were usually spot on, but the Ford comes out optimistic for me as well. The VW you could adjust, not so sure about the Ford. One thing I've noticed is that it doesn't count remote start usage, which throws off the number quite a bit even if you don't use it much because the engine in the FFE isn't an efficient idler (it idles at 1500 when you start it). Rexracer Posted January 12, 2015 at 04:38 PM Report Share Posted January 12, 2015 at 04:38 PM FFE isn't an efficient idler (it idles at 1500 when you start it). It idles at 1500 to warm up. Since the engine is often rarely on, it has to get warm quickly. Like mentioned in another thread, if its not run frequently enough, it will run itself to "maintain the oil", it needs to burn off the condensation water in the oil pan that collects in the oil. The warm up idle is the only idle relevant to my remote start scenario I was mentioning. Because it does not seem to take remote start fuel usage into account. Hybridbear Posted January 14, 2015 at 06:03 PM Report Share Posted January 14, 2015 at 06:03 PM You are correct that remote start gas or electric use is not counted in the trip meters or Lifetime Summary. Rhynri
