Hi All,

Purchased a 2014 Ruby Red SE Fusion Energi this weekend.  So far, so good.  Too much to learn.  Applied for the Calif $1500 rebate.  Have my CPA looking at the supposed $4007 Fed Tax Credit.  Need to research 240V chargers and wait for my license plates so I can get the Green HOV sticker.  That form is filled out, but need that one piece of info.  Traded a 2012 Camry Hybrid XLE.  Fusion feels much richer with the options it has, but that Camry served me well as it averaged 43 mpg and got me $20,000 in trade.  Also need to deal with power company and see what I need to do as far as rate plans and finding a contractor to upgrade my garage 220V to 240V.  Hoping it's all worth it.

The voltages in the USA are 240 volts and 120 volts.  The continuous mention of 220 volts and 110 volts have not been true for at least 75 years.  The Energi requires a 240 volt 20 amp circuit.  Continuous duty, which a charger is, require a derating to 80% which is 16 amps.  That is exactly the maximum current an Energi can handle.  That said, consider whether you might buy another car in the future, such as a Focus Electric, that requires more charging power.  A bigger charger, such as a 32 amp or 40 amp, will charge the Energi just fine and allow upgrading to a car with higher charging requirements without having to redo your charging system.

To get the full $4007 you must owe the IRS at least $4007 in taxes on your tax year 2014 tax return.  You must be the first owner of the car to get the tax credit.

Hi, I'm in Sacramento also! Hope you are still active on the forum and are enjoying your car. Come join us at the SacEV meetings at the Nissan Center in West Sacramento. Check their website for the next public forum date. We love to have new members with any type of EV, but we need more folks with Ford EVs!
