bwheetley Posted April 12, 2015 at 08:13 PM Report Share Posted April 12, 2015 at 08:13 PM Did you have any Go Times set on Sunday? Did you check on it with MFM at all on Sunday? When you say that you plug it in each evening, does that mean as soon as you come home or do you arrive home and then later go back outside to plug it in? My belief is that the car will charge the 12V as needed when plugged in. But, if it sits plugged in too long without any Go Times (even with HVAC off) to wake it up or you checking on it via MFM to wake it up, the battery can drain and end up dead. Since we have 2 EVs we don't always have the Energi plugged in when it's at home. When we aren't using it every day it may sit for days without being driven. But it will be plugged in when the Focus Electric isn't home and I observe it charging the 12V battery when it gets plugged in. Waking it up with the MFM app will also trigger it to start charging the 12V battery.I don't have any go times for Sundays. My go times are Mon-Fri at 07:00. I almost always plug in as soon as I get home. You have an interesting hypothesis of why it may drain. I did recently have an issue where I had done a reset on the sync system and had to re-connect the car to the MyFordMobile site. The dead battery occurred while the car was not connected to the site so maybe the car kept trying to phone home or something...

bwheetley Posted April 18, 2015 at 04:02 PM Report Share Posted April 18, 2015 at 04:02 PM The dealership is currently trying to get permission from Ford Corporate to allow them to going through all the modules and test them. It has been about a week since I had the car in to be looked at so I'm not sure if there's been any progress or not. I took my car back until they have gotten permission to do any further work. expresspotato Posted May 4, 2015 at 11:24 PM Report Share Posted May 4, 2015 at 11:24 PM Whoa whoa whoa... The car is similar enough to the 2013+ fusion hybrid that I had for over 2 years that I can offer a bit of advice. 14.4v is supplied to the 12v battery and system whenever the HVB is connected. The reason you're seeing it drop when charging is complete because the car is smart enough not to risk leaving the HV system energized. When charging is complete the relays open and the battery is disconnected. The HVB assembly has a relay which connects it through the DC cables to the inverter in the front end of the car. Its connected (and you can hear it click on): - Any time the ignition is on, including in accessory mode - Any time the car is being chargedI had this exact same problem in the FFH. The chimes sound cheaper and no longer come through the sound system and instead come through the dash. It sucks this is still an issue. Its basic idea is that the voltage drops too low on the 12v bus and the car starts to do "load shedding" turning off various modules and equipment to try and save the battery. It always seemed like the car didn't charge the 12v battery sufficiently or wasn't able to measure its SOC properly.Shame this is happening to the Energi also but I don't see why it wouldn't. Like everyone else to confirm this you should remove the negative post on your battery after you've charged the car or have been using it for a while and measure its voltage. If you battery reads any less than 12.0v, its essentially the car hasn't been charging it or is toasted.
ctwomey Posted July 3, 2017 at 01:34 AM Report Share Posted July 3, 2017 at 01:34 AM I'm pretty sure I'm having this same problem. Tinny cheapo sounds from the left side of dash instead of the sound system on a 2014 Energi Titanium. (When I first got it I followed forum advice (murphy, I think) and ran a string through to be able to pop the trunk if the battery really dies. Hope it doesn't come to that.) Potentially related symptoms: remote has seemed to be shorter range of late. Charging time profiles frequently failing to sync (unclear if it is ever syncing...probably getting killed in electricity costs). This all started when I (belatedly) got the modem swapped after the old one stopped working (standard recall). The pain coming: the local Monterey dealer always punts on these sort of repairs, forcing me to drive 45 min to Salinas where I bought the darn thing. Anyone from Ford Corporate want to help? James Adams Posted October 8, 2021 at 11:08 PM Report Share Posted October 8, 2021 at 11:08 PM Hi there, I had this problem as well…loud chime from dash when opening door and unlatched seatbelt as well as the power save mode prompt when ignition is on but car is not running. Did a battery check while engine was running and got around 14 volts. Turned car off and got 12.50v and it was dropping .01v per second with the car off and no accessories on. Changed the battery and the door/seatbelt chime went back to normal…soft chime via the entertainment center, not that loud annoying chime from the dash area, and no power save mode prompt.
