With my 2007 Camry Hybrid the best I got was 55mpg (one great week) using the pulse and glide technique. The gear ratio is likely part of the reason for lower MPG numbers but the highway speed of the Energi, at 80 or 85 MPH, will come into play as well...you have to feed those horses in some way. If you don't use the plug-in capabilities of the Energi an appreciable amount of time, paying for that capability may not make good economic sense. The hybrid might be a better choice in that case. But, having said that, personally, I would rather have the plug-in capability so it is there just in case I can use it down the road, so to speak. And that is without any options that may also add weight that has to be pushed around. So, yes, the battery is a factor also. I'm afraid to see what my car will weigh! Both front and rear molded splash guards are available after market, but more expensive. It is one more factory item I missed by being ahead of the curve. Likely the dealer does the install either way. I had them add the front and rear molded ones as a part of our agreed price. That was why I was so anxious for the Build and Price for the car to appear on Ford.com, because I knew there would be items available that were not on the order sheet that we used when I ordered my car. For me it's too late but if any of you see something you missed your dealer can add it up to the time the factory assigns the car a VIN. Once that happens, game over. I'm struggling to stay between 100 and 110 MPGe and now my wife is beginning to drive the car which is not helping at all. I am going to have to educate her, one more time, on how to take the car out of EV Now and put it into EV Later. Sound simple? You don't know my wife, lol. It ran for about 1/3 a mile according to my Life summary( I didn't know till I took a photo and checked the Myfordmobile website under driving trips). It must have been a real smooth transition, I was driving very cautiously with radio off, the windows slightly down, and the a/c and vent off. I thought I would have noticed or heard the engine. I returned home with about 3/4 charge still left on the battery.I have been driving only in town the last few weeks and have noticed the MPGe going up.
